Found Deceased NC - George Richardson, 47, Harper's Creek, 15 April 2017

The Avery County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information involving a missing person. George Richardson, 47, is of large build with brown hair and brown eyes. Richardson was last seen at a cabin in the Harper’s Creek area of Avery County on April 15.The cabin burned to the ground along with all known vehicles in which he could have used to leave the area. If anyone has any info regarding George Richardson, contact the Avery County Sheriff’s Office at 828-733-2017.

The next morning the cabin, his truck, and trackhoe were found destroyed by fire. Richardson was nowhere to be found.

[h=1]Human remains found in Harper’s Creek[/h]

On June 5, during another search, human remains were found in the area, according to a June 6 release from Avery County Sheriff’s Office.
“Due to the decomposition and predation which has occurred there is no positive identification of the remains and such identification could take months,” Avery County Sheriff Kevin Frye said. “But because we have no other reports of missing persons in the area and some articles consistent with articles belonging to Richardson were found near the remains, we feel confident our search for George Richardson is over.”
