Robeson County community remembers Hania Aguilar two years later | CBS 17
Two years later, the story of Hania Aguilar still haunts the Robeson County area.

“Hania was just a beautiful beautiful girl,” Gaugh said. “Taken way too soon. She should be here living a long joyful life.”

Gaugh is friends with Hania’s mother. Her daughter was a friend of Hania’s.

“Chloe’s not the same no more,” she said. “Chloe’s not cheerful anymore. She misses her.”

McLellan is in protective custody and the case has still not gone to trial. Hania’s mom told News13 Thursday ‘there is a mother who no longer waits for Thanksgiving or Christmas’ and the justice system failed her. She says the only thing she hopes for is justice.

The State of North Carolina served McLellan back in June with notice of the death penalty in Hania's death. Prosecutors believe McLellan should die if he's convicted by a jury.

In the year after Hania’s murder, the Lumberton community showered her family with love since her death.

So - not even a court hearing date? I have Hania's & the rape case last hearing on 6/1/20, but the kidnapping charge I have 2/3/21 court date.

As this is one of very few death penalty cases on WS, I think we can expect very little movement on the docket. I'm sure this will move very slow and eventually end with the defendant taking a guilty plea and LWOP.

I'm looking forward to reading about a wrongful death suit filed by Hania's family. This killer should have never been released, and ready to claim another victim.

I just hit the jackpot on Michael McLellan's court docket. There's something going on, and the events are slated for Superior Court, so this could indeed be something. I haven't had time to check the details yet, but here's what I saw.

When there is, it would say "Trial" if it indeed were a trial. So far no details for that specific courtroom -- although the 7th is Monday. Dunno.

The specific Courtroom info by courtroom number will show if it is a trial, and it will list the person(s) charged. There is nothing mentioned about Courtroom 002A. If it says he was arrested on 11/13/18 & charged on 5/14/19 - it could be Hania's case.
