I wish I knew. I've tried SmartSearch by name and by case number. I've tried searching hearings. I can't get a thing to come up. So frustrating.

This case and lack of progress makes my blood boil. This animal should have never been on the streets to have been able to abduct and murder Hania to begin with.

LUMBERTON, N.C. (WPDE) — More than 20 new motions have been filed by lawyers of 39-year-old Michael McLellan ahead of his trial in the brutal murder of 13-year-old Hania Aguilar in November of 2018.

The recent motions filed in the case involve several matters, including a motion for all phone records in the case, names of expert witnesses the state intends to call and information regarding any deals or concessions made to state witnesses, a motion for all investigators who worked hania's killing to turn over all information related to the case, including notes, to prosecutors.

McLellan's lawyers also want the death penalty removed or stricken from consideration.

At this time, it's not clear if or when a hearing will be held on the motions filed by McLellan's attorneys.

I find it infuriating. The State announced they were seeking the death penalty in June 2019 so the defense has had more than enough time.

It sickens me the way this child's family have been treated. and I wish Hania's case received a fraction of coverage/justice as Murdaugh's victims.

Today also marks 5 years since her body was located in a swamp.

There is typically a 4 year delay in cases coming to trial in Robeson County.

There was a case last month where a man given pre-trial release while waiting for a First Degree Murder trial shot (fortunately not fatally) two policemen.

There is a long backlog of murder cases. In most cases, drug dealers shooting other drug dealers.

Monday marked five years since the 13-year-old Hania Aguilar’s body was found in a wooded area off Wire Grass Road, but her family is still waiting for justice.

Court records show McClellan is expected to have a hearing in the case on Dec. 4.

WMBF News has reached out to the Robeson County District Attorney’s Office several times to find out what will happen during that hearing. We have not yet heard back.

Perhaps it is in reference to that.
