Does anyone know if there are city buses in Lumberton?

I asked locals to make sure. There is no city bus... but greyhound wouldnt be out of the question.... or other private bus companies that may pick up in that area......

I can't get over the feeling that Hania was definitely targeted.

Also, ( I'm sorry I cant remember who it was) that posted the link to the anonymous online tip site...... I feel like that could be very useful as many people may be weary to contact LE due to immigration ( or possibly even retaliation) fears. I've been pushing that link reminder since I saw it posted here.

Side note: I really like this police chief and the way he is handling this. Hes released just enough to help gather tips that assist with the case and people dont feel AS helpless. I know LE always have a reason for silence but hes done great about giving just enough...

Going to sit back on my hands. You all always connect so many of the missing pieces in here.... smarties

Dear yrmfp,

When you posted "there is an obvious trail beside her home that connects to the shopping center.", were you referring to the "Caroline County Peddlers Mall"?

Would the path lead to Hornet's Road or towards a different direction?

Thank you in advance and I am learning so much from your posts!

Hornet's Road:
(Lots of trees and wooded areas around):

Google Maps

or more towards Thomas Pizza and Subs:
Google Maps

Thank you so much for telling us about a path near Hania's home. You're awesome!

Hidden on that path, a person could have been watching the morning routines of the people who live there, waiting for an opportunity to grab Hania. IMO

Good recap article of everything we know so far and the video of the man walking:
Hania Noelia Aguilar, an eighth grade student at Lumberton Junior High School, was abducted at 6:58 a.m. Monday at Rosewood Mobile Home while she waited in her yard for the rest of her family to come outside and drive to school.

It was obvious to me the minute Hania was kidnapped this was not about stealing the vehicle.

I felt all along the vehicle would be ditched soon afterwards.

Hania was the intended target from minute one imo.

I am so afraid this is not going to end well for Hania and her family.

But like in all these heartbreaking cases involving young kidnapped children I am still praying for a miracle even though I know each day that passes greatly decreases those odds.

Praying for Hania and all of her love ones.

Imo

Hernandez has this message for Hania's abductor:
"Return her to me because I miss her," Hernandez said. "She's a good, sweet girl."
Hania's stepfather, Miguel Barrera, said they have no clue who could have snatched Hania. FBI agents said Wednesday they had no reason to believe Aguilar knew her abductor.
But right now, all she wants is her daughter back.
"I need her," Hernandez said. "I am suffering for her. Her sisters are too."

Rev. Giovanni Romero, of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Red Springs, said they’re having a vigil there Friday at 7pm to pray for Hania’s safe return. Hania and her family are parishioners there. Here’s what he said in Spanish. #ABC11 pic.twitter.com/t7xwnT3tZH

Have been watching this on local news since it's a couple of hours away from me. I think Hania looks older than 13 years in the photo with the sunglasses, just an observation. Very worried for her. If you research Lumberton crime you will see how much is reported, it's in the local news all the time.

I wonder if it was someone that worked with the stepfather and took an interest in Hania?

I'm curious on what everyone thinks... Do you think this is a crime of opportunity? Or someone who knew her morning routine and took advantage of knowing when she would be out there? Or something else?

I am almost certain it was not a random event. It feels planned. To have someone just randomly kidnap a person without a plan, he would have to come up with one very fast. The fact dogs were not able to follow him, proves he had to have help while dropping off the SUV.

So if this was a random perp, he would have to probably hide the girl somewhere. Then find someone to follow him in a stolen vehicle to drop off. Too many iff's to me.

Therefore I stick to planned kidnapping.

I understand yellow bandanas are easily available. This is not the issue to me, rather if this was a planned event (which I believe it was), then why not use black or any other dark color, which would blend in with the clothing.

Whether it was gang related or not, it seems well organized to me. The amount of law enforcement involved is staggering, yet nothing. This to me does not fit to "single random perp" category.

At one time, it was Bridge Guy.
Exactly! :) But I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any info on the case. I thought maybe Bandanna Guy?

But, imo, the only BG is Bridge Guy. (I know not everyone followed the BG case - it's the case where two young teens were killed near an old bridge and the perp hasn't been caught, despite a photo of him on the bridge.)

I have high hopes that this Bad Guy will be caught. And I'm holding onto hope about Hania.

I agree - I like this chief too. He gives off confidence and competency as well as compassion. Great combination.

There is a Greyhound station in Lumberton.
Closest Amtrak station is in Fayetteville, which is approximately 35 miles from Lumberton.

It would interesting to know if the pedestrian was seen on OTHER mornings walking around, not just the morning of the crime.

And if he was a regular walker in that area, is he still?

I presumed that this is why LE released the video, because they did just that and established that he was not. However, maybe they released it immediately and didn't check into that first...

From what I know, Lumberton doesn't have public bus transport besides a more national chain like Greyhound. Lumberton is known for crime and has quite a bit of poverty, especially after Hurricane Matthew wiped out a lot of areas with flooding, as well as Hurricane Florence. I live about 1.5 hours north of it so I've driven through the area at times and have seen some not so great areas.

That is just my two cents about the area itself. I hope that this girl can be found, safe and sound and her family gets the support that they need.

Thanks so much to you and others who have helped so much.

That is one of the things that really surprised me to learn about this town. Im not from that area and only looked at maps and my impression from the maps was totally different. I would have never guessed that town had lots of crime. It is surprising and sad to hear that.

Lumberton Police Department
54 mins ·
The Lumberton Police Department and the FBI continue to ask for assistance with the investigation into the kidnapping of 13-year-old Hania Noelia Aguilar on November 5, 2018.

Investigators need the public to identify a man seen walking on surveillance video near the kidnapping scene. He may have information to help us #FindHania. The video was originally released on Thursday afternoon, but we have not yet identified the man. Someone knows this individual and we need you to call us with information. Maybe there is someone who recognizes the way the man walks or his mannerisms or maybe he will recognize himself on TV.

The videos below show what appears to be a man wearing light colored shoes, a light-colored shirt, and a hoodie walking down Lambeth Street, then turning left onto Highway 41/Elizabethtown Road towards the Rosewood Mobile Home Park. Several vehicles were seen on the video driving by, if you saw the individual on the morning on November 5 or know this man, please contact our tip line at 910-272-5871 with any information. If you are this individual, please call the tip line and speak with investigators, your assistance may help in locating Hania.

Hania was outside her home at the Rosewood Mobile Home Park located at 3525 Elizabethtown Road, Lumberton, North Carolina on November 5, 2018 just before 7:00 a.m. She had gone outside just before her family left to drive to school. A witness heard her screen, looked outside, and saw a male subject dressed in all black and wearing a yellow bandana force Hania into a relative’s vehicle that was parked in the driveway. The vehicle is a green, 2002/2003 Ford Expedition with South Carolina license plate NWS-984. The paint on the hood is peeling and there is a Clemson sticker on the rear window. An Amber Alert was issued. The Amber Alert remains active, the vehicle information has been removed since the vehicle was recovered.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information that leads to the location of Hania. Hania is a Hispanic female, 5 feet tall, weighing approximately 126 pounds. She has black hair, and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt with flowers and blue jeans. Hania’s family is working with law enforcement and fully cooperating with investigators to locate the teen.

The Lumberton Police Department has set up a special tip line to call if you have information to help investigators find Hania at 910-272-5871. Missing posters are now available in English and Spanish on www.fbi.gov
