That makes sense that the other aunt is the stepfather's sister. It's good to know who is who otherwise it can get confusing. At least for me.
Quite early on in this case I came to my own conclusion that Hania’s family is not of the traditional family structure. I doubt any of that’s a factor here as the assailant surely is from outside of the family, but trying to figure out how everyone is related and where they live feels a lot like playing “Who’s on First?”

I don’t know (on third) about that.
Family members aside, I think Hania’s morning routine is relevant. Is there a chance she was spotted another time?

Personal observation. We live an hour and half away from Lumberton and my fiance' travels for his job. He avoids stopping in Lumberton (for lunch or fuel) because of the crime reports we see on the local news. They're often and scary. When I travel in that area I won't stop there either.

So sad for the kids who have to grow up there.

My apologies if this is a duplicate post.

Has it been reported elsewhere that Ft. Bragg MPI's are involved? Is that typical for the area?

Officials seek to talk to neighbors of Lumberton teen, who has been missing for a week

We have seen this in other missing children's cases that occurred close to a base. I think it's a case of all hands on deck.

I'm left handed and I hold my phone in my left hand, lol.

I'm left handed but very ambidextrous. I switch back and forth so I don't get carpel tunnel in one hand or the other. I know I'm strange though and that is not the norm.

I have kept up on Hania generally in real time. I still feel like I've missed something though.

LE knows there were more than one persons involved. One guy took her and dumped the van and another guy was waiting with the get away car or van or SUV. He is on the phone with the other guy, telling him where he is and the ETA. They are on a mission, I don't know how he would know to go to that address at that time to grab her? He isn't in a car or van, so he has to have a way to take her. I still think someone at that street or nearby had eyes on her and knew the van was running. I think this was planned. JMO

The evidence that they took from the SUV, will take time. But remember if this is a family vehicle it will have her hair, prints, DNA in it because she is in it all the time, so will the family's DNA, prints and hair. They have to test hairs or DNA to eliminate the her and the family and look for any DNA that shouldn't be in the vehicle. And if the person isn't in CODIS, well now you have a problem. So it will take time and a lot of testing. Hopefully he will be in the system for prints or DNA.

Agree.

I have a feeling the perp has done other crimes in the past and hopefully his DNA and/or finger prints are in the systems and all over that vehicle.

I cant see this being his first crime. Im still wondering if he is maybe the escaped convict that was talked about on prior threads.

And if she lives in an adjacent trailer park with her mom and walked over to have breakfast with her aunt and cousins and get a ride to school, wouldn't she be more susceptible to an abduction then? She could have been spotted and followed then? I don't know the route she would take to get there, or if perhaps the reporting meant the adjacent trailer and not trailer park? I'm a bit more confused at the moment, if that's indeed possible.
I'm catching up with the case, but had to reply to this.

Perhaps the perp was in the woods as he was walking around that morning when he saw Hania walk from her trailer to her aunt's place. Then he waited in the woods watching, with the plans to grab her if possible when she came out of her aunt's house. He might not have known anything about her, except to guess that she was on her way to school and would soon exit the aunt's trailer.

Perhaps his plan was to grab her and bring her into the woods to assault her (sorry), but when he saw her starting the car, the plans quickly changed. He could get the girl and get a speedy getaway.

Brainstorming. JMO.

Thats possible. I was struck by that patch of woods that went east of the house was the only patch of woods that went all the way out to the road. It was easy cover for him to make his way from that road and towards the homes. All the other areas around that road were cleared and mowed down in the google map I saw.

Scary to think there are criminals out there willing to do something so bold and horrific like this crime. I hate to call it murder yet as I am trying so hard to hold out hope for her.

This makes sense. Sort of a random plus planned scenario.

I agree he may have spotted her before the attack. Maybe not even on that day.

Although, in order for Hania to walk to her aunt's, have time for breakfast and then time to go out to start the car for a ride to the bus stop, she would have been walking over to her aunt's in semi-darkness. If the ride to the bus stop is to insure safety (as well as distance to bus stop), I'm doubting she would be allowed or be comfortable walking from Mom's to Aunt's. Plus her younger sister is with her at the aunt's so does she come over in the morning too? I'm thinking now that she and her sister are driven or maybe escorted by the mother this early in the morning because for some reason Mom is unable to drive them to their bus stop. Nothing has been reported on this so all jmo

I'm holding on to hope too.

The more I think about it, the more I do think this is the scenario: the perp saw her walk from trailer to trailer that morning and then he waited in the woods to see what he could do when she exited. If she exited with other family members, he'd just keep on walking. If she exited alone, he'd grab her. When she exited and started a car, he pounced on the opportunity to take the car and the girl.

Which...gives us a clue that he doesn't seem to be worried about time if he's willing to wait in the woods for her to exit the trailer. So, he's likely not walking to his workplace, but just walking around (or doesn't care if he's late for work).

Just a quick note to help put the crime rate discussion into perspective. Yes, Lumberton has a high crime rate, but it’s not like everyone is walking around afraid for their lives every day. Looking at the raw data from 2016 (2017 is in the process of being released). There were 393 to 395 violent crimes reported. That number is made up of 9 murders, 5 - 7 rapes, 119 violent robberies and 222 assaults. (Of course rapes are always under reported.). http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Lumberton-North-Carolina.html

This website shows the crime rate by the sections of town: Lumberton, NC Crime Rates and Statistics - NeighborhoodScout

The crime rate in the area that Hania lives is high, but not the highest in the city.

The majority of the violent crimes are drug related. So the people that don’t participate in the drug culture are rarely victims.

The population is poor and money is a big motivator for crimes like robbery. It is often drug addicts that commit robberies to get their next fix. The robberies that take place are usually done when people are not home. In 2016 there was a surge in robberies after hurricane Matthew when people were in shelters and homes were left empty. There has been another increase in robberies here since Florence hit this year.

Quoting my own post. People don’t live in fear. They adapt their behavior to include more safety measures, compared to those living in other places.

Quoting myself....

Maybe Hania even noticed him as she walked to her aunt's house and said something to her family. Maybe that's the reason her aunt told her not to start the car that day. Just because LE hasn't released that info doesn't mean they don't have that clue. (And the little sister might not have known.)

Total speculation. Just trying to fit puzzle pieces. JMO

I was trying to get caught up with this thread last night and then I fell asleep. I wanted to ask if the time was known of the guy walking on the tape and also how far are the two trailers from each other? Sorry if this has been covered.

I was wondering if that comment about her starting the car even though her Aunt asked her not to is any kind of clue. She may have added the part about being told not to so as not to appear negligent or as if she usually allowed a 13 year old to start a vehicle. I wish we knew for sure. Either way if her daughter did see someone and told the family I'm sure LE is aware. It sounds to me like they have a lot of evidence and tips so I'm hoping this will be solved soon. I'm afraid it won't have a very good outcome. It sounds ominous to me. Jmo

This is the route I posted earlier.. About a mile I believe (20 minute walk) And he was seen an hour or during the hour leading up to the time she was taken.
