I feel like many of us hold back because of the uncertainty of some details not matching or from having a mediocre confidence that the two could even be a potential match due to estimated age, PMI or distance. This is exciting! I am glad you submitted!
However, what I have been learning in recent months by submitting directly to the ME/Coroner’s office and in a few cases the investigative LE, our submissions may not be the right match but it does allow for the cold case to be brought to light again. I have personally witnessed evidence of this. DNA, fingerprints or dental records are being located which is a motivator to again ramp up investigations.
I have many that I feel could be a possibility that I have never submitted due to certain doubts. I will be going back and digging into my research to see what was holding me back to see if they really should be submitted. I am encouraging all of us to do the same. Let’s not hold back, especially if it appears to be a stagnant cold case.
Thank you for your positive comment. I am hoping for a good result and glad she has been submitted also. I never get my hopes up, just get the information to the correct contact, leave it in good hands and follow up down the road to keep it relevant.
