I have a lot of thoughts on this but overall I'm just so sad.
Why didn't the mainstream media cover this when it happened? Sure, violent incidents happen unfortunately all too often and it's impossible to cover them all - This however was an unprovoked blitz attack on public transport witnessed by dozens - that is news.
The mental health aspect is heartbreaking. A mental health diagnosis isn't an excuse for an act, but it is a factor. The mental health care system is diabolical. Not just in the states, but all over the world. I've heard what the perps mama had to say and my heart breaks for her. It would seem though that he wasn't likely the type to accept mental health treatment/medication willingly.... Diagnosis in combination with that rap sheet though, he should not have been freely walking around in public.
The past criminal history - what on earth is going on with the judicial system?!
If you've watched the long video of the incident in its entirety, words that mention race are there clear as day. Not once, but twice. Was that the motive? It seems that Iryna was the only (that's visible on camera) white passenger on that carriage and it was only her who was harmed. Is this why the MSM didn't cover this case?
It's all heartbreaking. There's already too much hate and divide in this world and it's just getting worse.

I am still so heartbroken having watched the video in its entirely. The way she looks up at him, the way she cowers with her hands in her face while looking around for comfort and just absolutely terrified. I woke up still sickened at the thought of it all.

Thank you for finally posting an answer to ‘why MSM took so long to report this’ and to point out the obvious- had skin colors been reversed, MSM would have been all over it from the beginning.
Interesting that the sister recorded the phone call. Did the article state when this phone exchange occurred?

I can understand that.
But, surely, a Judge can order an aggressive & psychotic mentally ill person into a closed Institution to get a therapy, no?
Sending such a person on the streets, being homeless is... ummm....mind boggling IMO.
C'mon,
anybody can be attacked.
Anything can trigger such a person.
Nobody is safe, no child, no elderly person, no woman, no man.
Surely,
there are some procedures, aren't there?
