Fantastic effort being put in Frizby well done
Ah shucks, thanks Stephen. I have a feeling that the article will not be going up on line and anyway it is quite segmented so even if Evoke did, I suspect it will only be the main small one from the front page, it won't be the full interview or the other segments. Whilst on the topic of segments, there is one other bit that is quite interesting, mainly because of the lack of response to the DM by the lawyers & eagerness to speaking to Mr Maginn.
Molly Martens's lawyer was contacted several times prior to publication in relation to Mr Maginn's claims. Her defence attorney is Walter Houlton, a Winston-Salem based lawyer with over 30 years' experience.
On Friday, April 15, Mr Holton was sent the entire transcript of Mr Maginn's interviews - which were carried out over a series of weeks with the Irish Daily Mail.
He was given an opportunity to review the material in full and respond on behalf of his client. The following day, Saturday April 16, Mr Holton contacted Mr Maginn via email. He said he would "appreciate an opportunity to talk". He contacted Mr Maginn again on Sunday April 17 with a similar request. Mr Maginn declined the offer.
The Irish Daily Mail contacted Mr Holton on Monday April 18, via phone and email, seeking a response to the original right-of-reply.
Mr Holton sent the following statement:-
"Here are the facts. Jason Corbett brutally attacked his wife on August 2, 2015, placing her and her father in a life-threatening situation. They responded in self-defence and immediately called emergency responders. In cases such as this one, efforts are often made to portray the victim of domestic violence as the culprit. Such efforts are misguided and cruel."
Was wondering was this the first time that they have heard about Mr Maginn? Just how much in the dark are these attorneys in?
