Found Safe NC - John Fulbright, 37, Pisgah National Forest, 22 Jan 2018

Authorities spent Tuesday afternoon and evening searching for a camper, John Marshall Fullbright, Jr., 37, who went missing Monday afternoon. He went to get some firewood yesterday afternoon and did not return.

Fullbright was camping near Avery Creek Road. Authorities were dispatched about noon Tuesday to the White Pine camping Area off Highway 276 north of Brevard.

Crews from the Transylvania County Rescue Squad and Mills River Fire Department will continue their search today.

Fullbright is from Virginia and was camping with his girlfriend. “He took a map and went to get firewood. His girlfriend said when she woke up he was gone."

A helicopter is now flying over the search area until 2 p.m.
