This is interesting. I thought he was seen throwing stuff into a dumpster the day after he killed them. I was also under the impression that he actually killed them at their house the afternoon before the day they were reported missing. This means he had to have kept them somewhere for that period of time between when they were reported missing and when he killed them if he dumped that stuff a day before he killed them. I'll have to go back and read and refresh my memory on the timeline. I'm obviously way off.

We were all way off because it was never reported that way. Either someone made an error in writing the story (which I am hoping) or this guy is psycho.

In the Codd case, the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office has sent the still-unidentified remains to an FBI lab for further testing.

If the remains are never identified, prosecutors will rely on other evidence to connect Jason Owens to the Codds. As Newman proved, it's still possible to get a conviction.

"It's a different challenge," said Newman.

According to a search warrant, Owens indicated to detectives he destroyed the Codds' bodies and kept the remains at his home. Owens' next court date is scheduled for April 7.

Uuuuggghhh. Looks like it has been continued. From the article: "An administrative hearing for Robert Jason Owens, originally scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2016, has been continued." I know because it's a death penalty case and there was a large amount of evidence things are moving really slooooow, but I wish they would just get on with it. The families have waited long enough for justice!!

I hope part of the plea deal is the piece of filth telling what really happened that day. He ran down JT with a truck but nothing has ever been said about what happened to Cristie.

Owens is so evil he won't even tell the truth when he has not much left to lose. WLOS was reporting this evening about a letter that Owens supposedly wrote from jail saying the Codds' deaths were not his fault. WLOS reported a copy was on their website but I'm tired and I can't find it. It sure didn't look like a dude's handwriting to me.

"Owens told investigators he accidentally ran over the Codds as they were trying to get his truck out of a ditch, the paper reports, citing a police statement given in court Thursday. An attorney for him said in court that he was on prescribed medication for depression and was heavily impaired. Worried he would go to jail, Owens said he dismembered and burned their bodies and then sold their personal things and moved their cars to make the crime look like a robbery, the station reports."
