Found Deceased NC - Julius Rassin, 22, Wilmington, 16 Feb 2018

The NC Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for a missing endangered man.

According to a release, Julius Cole Rassin, 22, is described as a white man, around 5’10” and 165 lbs. with shoulder length brown hair and hazel eyes.

Rassin was last seen at Kat 5 Kava on 123 Grace St. in downtown Wilmington wearing a grey turtleneck, dark jeans, tan deck shoes, a black leather jacket and a long white scarf.

Officials say he is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Distinguishing Marks/Tattoo’s: Tattoo on upper left palm near 3-5 fingers that says Hold Hope.

Three Tattoo’s on forearm:
1. ALL THAT IS GOOD
2. The word YAWEH in a heart.
3. Hebrew writing
One tattoo on shoulder: Temple of Poseidon.

Additional information released by the CUE Center for Missing Persons indicated Rassin is not violent, and he left a note for his family and friends stating he had found a calling he could not evade any longer and that God was on his side.

According to Lori Covington Sorensen, a longtime family friend of Julius "Cole" Rassin, who was reported missing on Feb. 16, Rassin's body was found in Wilmington Saturday night.

Sorensen said medical personnel and authorities say he died from an accidental drowning and there was no foul play involved.

Authorities also said drugs and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the drowning.

According to Sorensen, they do not believe it was a suicide. She said Rassin was not suicidal at the time nor had he ever been in his life.

Linda Rawley, Wilmington Police Department spokeswoman, said in a news release Sunday that Rassin was located at the foot of the Isabel Holmes Bridge. Officers responded to a call near J.E.L. Wade Drive around 2 p.m. Saturday and police and fire units pulled his body from the water. The release noted that Rassin was said to be in need of medication and no foul play is suspected.

I am in a state of shock right now. I had a class with him in 2014. It was a spanish guitar class. He was like the pro of the class! He had the nicest guitar too. You could tell his heart was in music. Last time I saw him was in 2015/16 at Taco Bell. We said hi to each other. It's a weird realization that someone you knew, even if it was an acquaintance, that something like this could happen to them. I feel for his family right now and everyone that was close to him. I had a class with him and was impacted. Such a tragic loss
