NC NC - Karen Bosta, 39, Edenton, 31 May 2015 *guilty*

  • #41
This one bothers me. About an hour or so away and yet I only just heard something about it a few months ago. I've been to Edenton a few times and not far from where her car is found. And yet nothing. All we in the public really know is where her car was found. Very few facts or details. Edenton is not that big a town - I can't imagine something happening and at least ONE person outside the person responsible knowing something about the how and/or why she is gone. This one baffles me.

I have a difficult time looking at that FB because I've been to that area many times and it's about an hour to 90 minutes away. I can't believe there is so little to go on.

Anyone can keep the story alive by posting the FB link in the comments section of local news FB pages. I'd encourage locals to do that. Sometimes that will motivate a reporter to do another story. Someone saw something and may not realize what they saw. Continuing coverage can help. JMO

Here is the latest from Karen's page...a list of addresses where she spent extended periods in May and a request to pm the page if Karen or her car was seen there.

Someone has to know something. It's almost like she vanished into thin air.

Bumping for Karen.

Karen Bosta's case has been real quiet. Nothing to sensationalize it. Small town doesn't help either. I hope that isn't what is happening with the volume of tips.

I'm probably about an hour and a half away from Edenton and the local media does cover that area. But that coverage is not that strong. There is nothing stirring here on the news front. It's as if Karen Bosta's case has been forgotten.

I knew about the reward, but I wasn't aware a private investigator was working on Karen Bosta's case. David Marshburn, 919-604-9292. I believe this is the same PI that found Kelli Bodreax.

Still thinking about and praying for Karen and her family. It's coming up on two years since she was last seen.

Karen has been on my mind for some time now, and I was wondering if this unidentified person could be her. I hope they get her home.

I check the internet periodically. Nothing in the news. In fact, there wasn't much at the time she disappeared other than her car and where it was found. No surveillance video and to the best of my knowledge no witnesses that saw her around Edenton around the time she went missing. There has to someone who knows something.

Researching this case there is almost nothing in the news. But the Facebook posts reveal more than the news has revealed to this point. She was only in the Edenton area for about 2 years and prior to that Karen was a school teacher in NJ. It seems that one reason we know so little is that the PI hired to work the case is asking for information on who Karen hung around with. So it appears those investigating her case don't know who to talk to about her habits, routine and whereabouts. I wonder why she left NJ and who she might left behind there? There was the reminder that Karen had medication she had to take or it would result in health issues.

There is almost no media in the immediate Edenton area. The TV stations covering Edenton are all out of the Norfolk area so Edenton news is seldom covered. I believe the only major newspaper covering the area is the Virginian-Pilot with their NC edition and again that is Norfolk media. Unless there is some major update to the case I don't see the media coming out with anything. What they've done so far when the case was fresh is very little. That Facebook page and the PI is all that seems to be keeping the word out there so far.

Hello, I landed here because I searched for Karen Bosta. I don't know her and came here a bit circuitously. I hope how I came here helps somewhat in finding her.

This morning at 11.30am CT (08/18/17), I got a call on my Google Voice number. I give this number out to prospectors, on applications forms, etc. because I can screen who is calling. I only pick calls from known entities. I did not recognize this number so I assumed that some spammer is calling. It's become common these days for spam callers to use the area code of your number and peple do pick up assuming it's someone local. The calling number was (609) 218-5778. The area code 609 is from New Jersey. I used to live there but moved away, actually quite far away. but i kept my Google number which is also from the same area code. Now, sitting at the computer, I reverse searched this number for want of something to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon. A few more steps and it led me to a Karen Bosta in 19 Brookwood Rd., Clifton, NJ. When I searched for "Karen Bosta", I came across the news that she is missing and to your website. I also learned that she lived in NJ before moving to NC where she disappeared. Now, it's possible a spammer just picked a random number to use for call-blast or the number has been reassigned by Cellco Partnership DBA Verizon. I don't usually (actually, never!) call back unknown numbers but, for reasons you can understand, I did call this number a few times just now. After two rings, I get a busy tone. I don't know if this helps. I will check on this forum once in a while to see if anyone has ideas or need for more info. I gave all the info I have. Except maybe this: I don't know Karen Bosta and have never heard of her before this. I hope she is found and is safe.

Karen is on the verge of being too old and maybe too thin to be this unidentified woman. But it may be worth the comparison. Does anyone know how to alert Namus with a possible match?

"Authorities have charged an Edenton man with using a credit card last known to be in the possession of a Perquimans County woman reported missing more than two years ago.
Thomas Edward White Sr., 62, of the 700 block of Johnston Street, was charged Oct. 3 by the Perquimans County Sheriff's Office with obtaining property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.
White was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to make an appearance in Perquimans County District Court in December.

White is accused of using a credit card belonging to Arlene Murin, the mother of Karen Rae Bosta. Bosta, 39, was last seen May 31, 2015 shopping at a Food Lion store formerly located at North Broad Street and Coke Avenue in Edenton."
