Does this then negate the rumor (calling it rumor only because I don't have a link to mainstream media indicating she said this) that she heard something, got up, listened in on Kathy and heard her snoring? Is that not true?

I'm sorry I don't remember who posted that but it is within the last few pages here.

Maybe it came from Just the Fax ...

The TYPE of injury a blow to the head would render would be nothing like a surgeon's incision ... surely D has the mental capacity to consider that? Or is she suffering mentally that way too -- mentally challenged.

Well, lets just say it came directly from a very close friend via e-mail
Apparently that was Dina's story to the family.
Did it actually happen that way? Very unlikely.

Just The Fax is right on!

If it is not posted in mainstream media, we have to consider it a rumor. That's the Websleuths way.

Rumor, but reliable source works for me.

If Dina said she was there, then would no reason to not have her car there to keep people wondering if she was?

  • #244
Or are you saying that time time of morning that D says she woke up is not the time Kathy was killed?

  • #245
Well, the jealousy and issues were all D. So, the not getting along was one-sided. KT tried. I think it will come out that D planned it & her car was intentionally left at the shopping center so it would not be seen in the driveway. What she didn't plan on was the doctor being able to tell that it was assault & not complications from the surgery. D made it clear on the 911 call that KT was having complications due to the surgery......planting the seed.

I buy the 'locked keys in the car' for a reason.
Wonder if she left the house to meet a locksmith?

  • #246
"Heard a noise" is D's story. Think you'll see the time of the NOISE & the ACTUAL time of assualt are not going to be the same.

As for the blow...it was apparently on the right side of the head.
I can't imagine she thought she could crush her skull with a bat and it goes undetected?

Was a bat used?

Yes, Just The Fact is correct. What I'm saying is D said "complications from surgery" on the 911 call. Does it make any sense? NONE of this makes sense. I don't expect that someone capable of this would make sense once it's closely looked at. She's gonna sink herself.....she's not gonna remember all the things she's told....but police have noted all. Time is NOT on D's side.......but on the polices' side

Do you think she assaulted Kathy and waited for her to die? To bleed to death?

When do you think she killed Kathy -- closer to 11 p.m. or later?

Since you think she deliberately left her car at the store, she must not have gone back to get it, and it was still there in the morning when she called 911?

I thought the two 911 calls were 1)Dina from the house and 2)from the hospital.

Why did Dina call 911 twice? Didn't they have her stay on the line?

The cops need to handle her very carefully...no hint she is a suspect.
As soon as that happens, she lawyers up and the investigation may stall.
Just keep her talking and you are right, her stories will hang her in the end.

Well, thanks to public records sites, we learn something new all the time.
Turns out 304 Main Street is a duplex...unit A and B.
Guess who owns unit B? You guessed it, Kathy Taft.
Unit A is owned by Charles H H. and wife Dina.
They are very small, 1020' units valued around $100,000.

Thanks for the clarification, JTF. I, too, thought it might be a duplex but didn't have the info to confirm. I edited my previous post to correct.

Just got caught up on the thread. WOW...Just, WOW! I'm going to have to let this sink in a little bit.

  • #255
Sorry Salem, I will not use her full name and will post info I hear as rumor.
I do think we are on to something by considering the sister.
As we all know, most murders occurring in a home are committed by family or someone close to the victim. I agree there is a fine line since zero info has been released by the cops.

So now we know Kathy and Dina must have been close at some point in the recent past if Kathy owned her vacation condo beside her sister's permanent residence:waitasec:.

Dina bought her unit in 2003 for $92,500
Kathy bought her unit 2/9/2009....only a year ago....for $101,500

The drive from Greenville to Oriental is only 1 hour

What in the world happened to them since February 2009 that would lead to this outcome?

Why in the world would KT ask someone that she didn't get long with to help her after surgery?

This just simply isn't making sense...

Here's a theory that assumes DH was invited by KT to be at the house:

DH took KT for surgery and brought her back to the house.

In the late afternoon DH drove to Harris Teeter for food for the two of them, stopping off at Glenwood Grill for several drinks. She debilerately locked her keys in the car.

She went to the grocery store and then walked back to the house using the path behind Glenwood Grill. Neighbors would say her car was not in the driveway most of the evening. Neither one of them ate much.

At some point during the night she attacked KT and was waiting for her to die.

At some point during the night she called a "locksmith" to meet her at her car to unlock it, took the path back to the car, and drove it back to the house once it was unlocked. (Was her car in the driveway Saturday morning?) This is the time when KT was left alone and could have been attacked by an intruder.

When she got back to the house she listened to see if KT was still alive and heard her moaning.

She became hungary and ate some food, leaving it out in the open in the kitchen, then went to bed, exhausted.

In the morning, when it appeared KT may not die, she finally called 911 with her story.

i think she has already done all of that. it sure would be good to finda weapon. Remember Columbo, how he kept coming back again and again, being a total pain in the neck....i used to love that! He acted like he was just tying up loose ends, but he knew where he was going with his investigation.:liar:

i agree with you. None of it makes sense. But it doesn't have to. we have a woman dead. we have a person in the house with her. we have no burglary, no robbery. It would be great to have all the answers, the motivation, etc. but I am afraid we may never have all the answers.

A single blow to a heavily bandaged head (assume Ace wrap from her jaw to the top of her head) should not produce blood spatter or leave blood on the weapon. She had ample time to dispose of this item in a plastic bag, then into the dumpster at the shopping center. Or, perhaps she met the locksmith Saturday AM and drove elsewhere to dispose? Or, did she really need to dispose of it at all? A cast iron skillet, bat, hammer or a 9 iron could easily kill someone if wielded by a female using extreme force.
