Such a terribly sad article... My heart goes out to Kelly's family...

"Stem, N.C. — Pat Currin spent Christmas Eve much like he has spent every day since Sept. 3. He pored over a map, looking for hope that his missing daughter would soon be found.

Pat Currin doesn't know what to tell his granddaughters, Kelly's children.

I am to the point that I think Kelly is not coming back. I don't think Kelly is alive, but she's got two kids that's got to be raised."
...
"We are eventually going to have to face that and figure out and come to some kind of plan to talk to them about your momma is not here and there is a possibility she may not come back.

Currin has never celebrated Christmas without both of his children.

Everybody always has to be there. You don't do it because another child is somewhere else, you wait until everybody can come, he explained.

This year he won't celebrate on Christmas Day. 'There is no Christmas,' he said Wednesday.

Instead, Currin and his wife will likely be searching. It is the same way they spent Thanksgiving.

You don't have any choice but to look. We don't know where she is at and by looking at least we know where she is not, he said."

I got this press release from a member of Kelly's family. Her birthday is on January 4th. My heart goes out to Pat & Juanita Currin, her 2 girls, and all those who love and miss her. I hope the New Year brings answers.

There will be a prayer vigil for Kelly Currin Morris on Sunday, January 4, 2009.
Kelly Currin Morris is the missing mother of 2 that was last seen on September 3rd, 2008 at her home on Tump Wilkins Road in Stem, North Carolina.
Her home burned down on September 4th and the fire was determined to be arson.
Kelly's husband was named a person of interest by the Granville County Sheriffs Department in the fire and her disappearance.

Sunday would have been Kelly's 29th birthday and the 4 month anniversary of when her home was burned, the day after she went missing.

Information on the Prayer Vigil
Location: Butner, North Carolina
Street Address: Central Avenue
Place: The Gazebo

Husband of missing Granville mom seeks custody

GRANVILLE COUNTY -- The case of a missing Granville County mother is turning into a battle over child custody. Kelly Currin Morris disappeared last September on the same day her home mysteriously caught fire.
Her husband Scott Morris - who detectives call a person of interest in the case - is seeking permanent custody of the couple's 5-year-old daughter Haley.
According to court documents, a judge has granted Scott Morris and his parents temporary child custody. The documents claim they are unaware of Kelly's whereabouts. It also suggests the case has hurt Scott Morris's towing business, leaving him unemployed and dependent on his parents for financial support.
The Morris's family attorney recently placed a legal notice in a local paper, giving Kelly 40 days after February 21, 2009 to respond to the child custody complaint. If she fails to respond, the court could grant permanent custody of her daughter to Scott and his parents.

Kelly's family declined to comment about the custody case. But, they remain focused on the search for any sign of the missing mother. Volunteers are welcomed at the Currin home on Old Weaver Trail Road every Saturday and Sunday. The searches now focus on abandoned wells in the surrounding area.
"We need closure," Juanita Currin told Eyewitness News. "Kelly's got two young children and they need to know what happened to their mother. She didn't just run away and leave them behind."
Anyone with information about Kelly Currin Morris case is urged to contact the Granville County Sheriff's Department.

I hope that the reason his parent's are included in the custody issue are because he anticipates being arrested. I've heard that he has sold his tow truck. Last night I dreamed that they found her body. I guess this case just haunts me. Maybe it should. Kelly just be found and never forgotten.

For all your non North Carolinian's, I was in that area recently. Everyone is doing a great job keeping her story out there. You see signs with her picture on them all over the place. Every intersection you sit at. This was in Northern Durham and Granville county.

We should be looking at passing laws to prevent the POI husbands or exes from keeping the children as pawns in such cases. When a woman vanishes and the husband is listed as a POI or a suspect, the children should be removed from the home until that person is cleared or charged, imo. Why subject children to the possible dangers and emotional turmoil?

This infuriates me as we see it time and time again. D. Peterson, C. Stebic, and so many more "suspects" who still have control of their children.

These children are potential witnesses to their mothers' disappearances yet they cannot be properly questioned by LE due to the fathers' legal rights to manipulate the situation. Isn't that witness tampering? Something needs to be done.
