NC NC - Kenneth Mohler, 70, Newton, 16 Aug 2012

still praying for you Uncle to be found. have told everyone i know about him. have a few friends that work up that way and others that travel up there.

I'm still at a quandary regarding the 911 call. He had just texted his wife around 7:30 the night he was it work, and his boss at 8PM, yet it was a co-worker that made the 911 call. Can't understand her not calling 911 when he return home. ???? Of course, anyone can text a msg. But surely he was there to fix the leak? God's speed to LE in finding him.

A coworker made the 911 call? When was he reported missing? Sorry, I missed this information.

I live around this area. Even more sad when it's a local case.

Its disappointing that this man hasn't been found and brought home yet. This must be a terrible time for his family and friends. I'm praying that he will be found soon. Its scary the way so many people have been disappearing not to be found for weeks, months, years, or ever. I hope answers will come and justice will be served in this case.

This just breaks my heart.

The family also kept their eyes on two stray dogs that have been hanging around the business. They say Ken Mohler fed and watered the dogs, even when he wasn’t working, and they were his constant companions at work.
When investigators took his truck from the site, one of the dogs followed the truck down the long road leading out from the business to Rocky Ford Road and continued on that road a bit. Family members have watched the dogs to see where they go. Ken Mohler Jr. said the strays stuck to his father like glue. One of the dogs just lies around now. On Tuesday, when a white truck that Ken Mohler used to drive left the property, the dog followed it down the road while family members called to it.

I’m pretty stoic, but this made the tears run onto my keyboard.

Bumping for Ken, his loving human family and those precious strays who rely on him and are waiting for their master to come home.

I haven't heard anymore information in the local news. :(

I only heard of Ken's disappearance tonight while listening to the bringthemhomeshow on blogtalkradio.
Tonight they interviewed his wife Wendy and his son Kenny.
There was lots of info that came out, for one Wendy and Ken
were planning on divorcing after Ken was done fighting for
custody of their granddaughter (Ken was not the biological
grandfather) but his Wendy was. <confusing> The child belongs
to Wendy's daughter from another man. When Wendy was
asked why only Ken's was fighting for custody, her answer
was along the lines of, Ken didn't want Wendy's daughter
to be able to get her back.

You should check out this interview, its very interesting.
Would be interesting to see what Peter Hyatt, 'The
Statement Analysis guy has to say on this one.

Here's the link to the show.

Thank you for your post, gambler. I am now in the process of listening to the link you provided.
I find several things very suspicious:
(I do want to add that I have the utmost respect for the families of victims...I know we cannot sleuth them. I am just sharing some concerns I think LE will notice immediately in this case. I'm sure they will try to work on them and dismiss them as soon as possible.)

1. Ken was planning on getting a divorce
2. Ken was seeking sole custody of his wife's granddaughter (unusual for a
71 year old man)
3. Ken did not call but texted his last known contact saying he would be home
from his work within the hour. The call went out around 7:30 pm
(although I have heard some differing times, I think we now know it was
evening and not morning)
4. Ken was reported missing by a co-worker, not his spouse
5. Ken was not reported missing until the next morning, when the co-worker
saw his vehicle in the work parking lot but Ken was not there.
6. News interview with spouse left me feeling uneasy

As I said, I am now listening to the radio interview. Ken's son is there, along with Ken's wife. Apparently the host contacted Ken's spouse and asked her to participate but she did not. Ken's son says he also asked her to participate. Even so, she did not (or has not so far, several minutes into the show).

I am very worried for Ken. My heart goes out to his family and I truly hope this mystery can be solved.

ETA: I need to edit my remarks. Wendy, Ken's wife, does call into the show. Its very interesting. Everyone should listen.....

Bump. Wishing for more attention on this case. It's way too hinky...after that radio interview. You can tell there is contention between his son and the soon to be X-wife.

As usual, apparently, there are things that LE knows that we do not know.

I would love to the truth about what happened to Ken....

Can any recap what was said on radio show? I'm in medical school so I have very limited sleuthing time :( sorry guys. It's been too long without word on Ken!

Well, it was an interesting show. Ken's son was there and spoke about what he knew...he doesn't live in the area where his dad lives, so he was going on what Ken's wife and LE have said. You could sense the disbelief in the son's interview (I don't think he believes his dad's wife is telling all she knows)...and there was a bit of tension there related to his dad's wife. But Kenny (the son) was very respectful.

The show began with just Kenny chatting about his dad. But when Ken's wife Wendy called in, the show took an interesting turn, as the host came down on her pretty hard (but in a nice way :seeya:). She questioned why Ken was supposed to be home by 8:30pm and yet he was not reported missing until the next morning....and that was by co-workers.
The host also brought up the fact that Wendy had gone shopping the next morning, even though Ken was not yet home. Wendy responded that she had called his work and the man she spoke with there said Ken's truck was there so he must be at work. She never asked to speak to Ken...and she never asked the co-workers to go out there and physically look for him.

There were also several questions focused on the timeline of events, especially concerning who called 911 (co-worker) and when Wendy called and spoke with the co-workers. Kenny says that according to the time that Wendy called Ken's co-workers, Ken had already been reported missing by those same co-workers. But she said that's not true. Wendy says she called Ken's work to check on him and that the co-workers said that Ken's truck is "out here and we hear him banging on something out there...so he's at work." She claims thats why she went shopping...because she thought he was at work. The host seems blown away that Wendy wouldn't go out to Ken's work and make sure he was ok...since he didn't come home all night.

It came out that Ken and his wife were planning to get a divorce at some point in the near future. They were waiting, according to the wife, until Ken could complete the adoption process of the wife's granddaughter. This is not Ken's biological granddaughter but his wife's granddaughter. The host of the show thought this was amazing...that Ken, at his maturing age, would adopt a child that is not even related to him--instead of Ken's wife adopting her. The plan was that Ken would adopt the girl and then he and his wife would proceed with their divorce. Could Ken's demise be related to the adoption process?

It was a very good listen and I usually can't sit still for those kinds of radio shows. That's why I surf other pages..or sew...or do something else while I listen.
I know this isn't the best synopsis...but at least it gives you an idea about some of the things discussed.

Hmm that is very interesting. Maybe they slept in different rooms and weren't doing well in their relationship so she didn't really care if he came home at night? But the differences in the coworkers calling him in missing and the wife saying they told her he was at work is really odd.

SNIPPED:

HICKORY N.C. – Recent headlines have referred to several missing people: two teens found dead in their car after setting out on an impromptu beach trip, a woman found alive after an 18-day search, and a man missing since August thought to be the victim of foul play.

The details in the cases of Jake Ziegler and Ray Pierce, Steffie Adams and Ken Mohler are different, but each case was opened when someone reported a missing person to local law enforcement. Though cases differ, there is standard information authorities need to get moving on their investigations.

Aside from name, age, address, physical description and a recent photograph, an officer needs to know when the person was last seen, whether anyone was with the person when he or she went missing and whether the person might have disappeared intentionally.

“Our officers need to get as much information about (the missing) person as they can” in order to be able to find them, according to Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid.

Reid dispelled the myth that a person must be missing for 24 hours before being reported missing. He said the more quickly his officers have the information they need about a missing person, the more quickly they can start investigating.
