CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle involved in a kidnapping that happened Monday on Griffith Street in south Charlotte.

According to CMPD officials, officers got a call around 6:30 p.m. Monday where witnesses said a Hispanic woman was near a rental scooter when a vehicle pulled up and a man came out and dragged the woman inside.

Witnesses told authorities they saw the woman scuffling with the man and heard screams and cries for help as she was pulled into the vehicle.

Authorities said they believe the suspect vehicle is a silver 2016 Alf Romeo Giulia with dark-tinted windows.

According to the CMPD, they do not know if the woman and the kidnapper knew each other. Investigators added that the information has been sent to other law enforcement agencies in South Carolina.

Currently, there have been no missing persons reports that match the description of the victim, authorities said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (704) 334-1600

According to this site, there were 36 Alfa Romeo Giulias sold in the entire US in 2016. The owner of this car should be extremely easy to find.

What in the world?? This is so bizarre—an alleged kidnapping without an identified victim. Hopefully the exact vehicle and its owner can be identified and located soon.

That is a very unusual car. (Aside: I want one soooo bad...) It is also quite expensive.

There was an incident near here not long ago where a guy pulled up beside a woman thinking she was a prostitute. When she turned him down, he grabbed her. Fortunately there were a couple of other people nearby who helped pull her away. I wonder if this case was something like that.

How terrifying, that poor woman.

I think they will be able to narrow down the suspect quickly because the vehicle is so rare but they need to identify the victim or it will be hard to do anything.

Maybe the victim is the girlfriend or the ex of the perp?

It does sound like possible domestic violence. Perhaps she was looking at the scooter because she was trying to find a way to get away from him.

Good link and info. Thanks. The year given for the car seems weirdly specific. Alfa Romeo Giulias look nearly identical for the 2016-2022 model years. Maybe they had a POI or a partial license plate number that matched a 2016 year Alfa.
