From the Facebook website:

"They cannot pin point the exact location of his calls. We know based on the tower the phone call bounced off of which direction he walked in from buckhead saloon. With that, the tower has a 7 block radius in up town that it covers, so we know from the time he left to the time he placed his last call he was somewhere in that radius. This is the area we will be walking today with as many people as possible."

That's where the Buckhead Saloon is.

I still find it very strange that both Justin Gaines and Kyle Fleischman seemed to have just dropped off of the face of the earth. What are the chances that they just had an accident and are in hospital as a John Doe? Maybe one of them.....but not both.

Kyle's sister was on Greta Friday night. His sister said there's no way he'd try to walk home. The bar is 8 miles away from Kyle's home. His sister also rewatched the video footage of him walking out of the bar. She said it was obvious he was NOT drunk when he left. She didn't think him leaving his jacket was too odd either....she said weather in Charlotte had been rather warm until that night.

What bothers me is the fact that 2 people didn't answer their phones when Kyle called them. Was there a reason they didn't answer? I wonder if he'd maybe drank a little too much on other occasions and called them for a ride home. Maybe they didn't want to be bothered. :(

It could be that they were asleep and didn't know he had called until the morning.

This case is eerily similiar to Brad Shaffer who went missing after leaving a bar in the Cleveland area and hasn't been seen since. Video cams also show him at one point, but nothing more.

What have the friends told LE that were with Kyle at the Buckhead Saloon? Was he seen talking with anyone he didn't know? About the debit card, was it in his jacket that was left behind?

For what it's worth, I think he called trying to get a ride home and just didn't feel the need to leave any messages. I sure hope he's found soon, this is just odd. Aren't Atlanta and Charlotte fairly close to each other? Perhaps there's some sicko out there preying on young guys exiting bars and coercing them into their vehicle? Maybe the search teams should look a little farther than inside these 2 cities. I don't know, I'll just keep praying that these guys are found. So sad.

Two otherwise healthy, young men missing within a 3-4 hour drive of each other is probably not all that strange, except that the circumstances surrounding their disappearance is so similar. Both of them went to the bar without transportation home, and both of them made phone calls as they were leaving. Can anyone recall any cases where a serial killer was at work, and men went missing over a geographical area? Jeffery Dahmer operated out of his home. Plus, Kyle Flesichman and Justin Gaines look very fit, and would not be easy to subdue. I have tried thinking out of the box to determine possible scenarios for abductions of guys like Kyle and Justin. The only thing I can come up sounds more like an urban legend than a theory - organ donations? Seems ridiculous, I know, but stranger things have happened. Now I feel silly for having said it - but oh well.....

Kyle's condominium complex was searched today ~

"Police searched Kyle Fleischmann's condominium and the surrounding area early this morning.

The 24-year-old has been missing since he was seen at the Buckhead Saloon Nov. 9.

Police took three waist-high brown paper bags with what appeared to be bedding from Fleischmann's condominium around 1 p.m.

Earlier in the morning, neighbors said, K-9 units searched the grounds of The Fransciscan Terrace, a condominium complex near Pfieffer College. The property abuts Little Sugar Creek. Neighbors also said the dogs searched several cars parked at the complex.

Fleischmann's disappearance has sparked a citywide search and has been featured on America's Most Wanted.

Searchers, including the Kristen Modafferi Foundation, had largely centered their search for Fleischmann near the Alpha Mill apartments and 12th Street in uptown, where police dogs had picked up a scent."

Actually this happened in New Orleans in the 90's (organ removal). It happened to someone that lived in the town next to my parents and it was confirmed by family members. Someone removed this young man's kidney after a night of partying in the French Quarter. The surgery was done with precision so it was suspected it was a medical worker/student who performed it. But everything that goes on in the French Quarter is strange.

Justin's case make me think he got mixed up with some gang activity around where this happened. Generally it is a good area but the gang/home invasion type activity is increasing throughout the area.

For some reason I think Kyle's case is different but I could be wrong.

How does someone just disappear? I know it's not uncommon for cases like these on this board, but it just doesn't make sense. My parents live in Charlotte and we went to the Bobcats game last night, and walked by the Buckhead Saloon. Granted it was about 9:30ish at night, but there many people around - it's not like it's not a well-lit area.

Is there even the possibility that he doesn't want to be found? From what I've heard, it's not. I can't imagine the frustration his family and friends must be feeling right now.

This is a graphic published in the Charlotte Observer showing missing persons: http://www.charlotte.com/static/images/graphics/meck_missing_persons.html

Is this number unusual?

BEE,
I'm not a detective but that seems like a large number of people that have disappeared from a rather small area. Especially within a year.

Hey KC,
The article didn't mention a computer but of course we really don't know for sure. This is from the article:
Kyle's father, Richard Fleischmann, tells us the bags were filled with his son's clothes. Police told him the scent from the clothes will better aid the K-9's in their search
.

oh oops guess i should have read the article! hehe.

this story & the justin gaines story makes me so sad.
i have so many guy friends that call me at those hours for rides from the bars but im always not in the condition to drive or my phone is dead. This makes me want to pick up every one of them that ever calls me for a ride!! Im seriously going to start calling cabs for all my friends.

Calling cabs is an excellent idea. My oldest daughter is 25. She and her friends always have a designated driver OR they all share cabs and go to one person's apartment.

You have to be careful honey.

I know. In my group of my friends our DD's NEVER work. But after reading this story & Justin Gaines story, im gonna look up my towns taxi number and put in my speed dial. Its weird when a guy goes missing because obviously the motive isnt rape...so what else could it be? just evil? robbery?

IMO, it very well could be robbery and meanness. Sadly in today's world people kill for little or no reason.
