Larry Schulman and his son, Josh Schulman, who was 25 years old, were at home on Outerbridge Lane in August 2017 when at least two assailants broke in. The intruders assaulted and shot them.

Larry Schulman survived but his son died from the injuries.'
Officers would not release many details but talked more about the process, saying that DNA evidence has been entered into the Combined DNA Index System and that they are following leads.

Josh Schulman was an organ donor whose gift impacted six lives.

His mother, Andrea Domingue, said it was a special way to honor her only child.

“That people will remember him as the kind-hearted and gentle man he was and that he didn’t deserve to die with a bullet through his beautiful brain,” Domingue said.''

"I went to sleep and then the break-in was at 3 o’clock in the morning."
Schulman said he awoke to a gunman bashing him with a handgun – demanding to know the location of his safe.
"I was also shot. I was pistol-whipped and shot in the back."

“Police say the 25-year-old had gotten home to the family's house on Outer Bridge Lane in the Providence Commons neighborhood in south Charlotte after being out with friends.

Sometime later armed individuals entered the house.

"It was a breaking and entering," said Detective Antonio Echols. He wouldn't say what, if anything, was taken from the house.

Investigators say they haven't recovered the weapon used in the shooting. "We've been interviewing a lot of people. A lot of people that were close to the family. A lot of people that were close to Josh. A lot of people he worked with, hung out with."

Police say they've been working the case since it happened but haven't gotten the break the case needs.”
