I was under the impression that castration stops testosterone, therefore the thoughts and need would not be there.
You could be correct though, I haven't done any research on this.

Even so, I've read of cases where the man could not perform, so he ends up torturing and killing women instead. Castration doesn't work... but keeping them locked up would. I think rape, especially violent rape should carry a mandatory sentence of at least 30 years or more, with no possibility of parole.

OMG, I'd be terrified of that guy just to see him.
The laws have got to change. When I was looking at the RSO list for a small town, there are convicted "violent predators" released from prison, living a normal life. IMO they should be either chemically or physically castrated if they can't keep them locked up.

But what if they convict the wrong guy? It would be pretty cruel to permanently alter a guy and find out years later they got the wrong man. I read recently about a black man being exonerated after serving 20-something years in prison for a rape he didn't commit.

I did say if they can't be locked up. Of course I would prefer them staying in jail but obviously many are released to possibly commit the same crime again.

OT I used to teach alot of kids from this area. Ms. Scott's half sister who is quoted in the article is a former student of mine. I am so heartbroken for this family. There is lot's of violent crime in this area. One of my former students is serving time for murder, another for serial rape and two died in violent crime related deaths all are/were from this same area. Damn, I wish there was a way to break the cycle. No kid should grow up there, IMO.
