I don't know that it is definite, C'Addict -- it was lookin' pretty good before the trial was severed into two parts, and before the trial was delayed until August. I can't imagine, however, that they would have anything else to cover besides this. Keeping my fingers crossed that their plans are still the same.

Hi, East -- and redsky!!

I didn't even know about the LC case/trial -- no idea how I missed it, although I did see the Chavez name here on WS a time or two. It sounds like a horrid deal from front to back -- especially the verdict, which I'm sure you all anticipated, in spite of it all. Oh, well. The "bad cops" don't always win, do they??

Now i'll have to go find LC here in WS, just to see what a bit of it was like... Hmmm, was it on IS?

We must make sure the good guys win another one on the Hayes trial. We must lock up that snotty grin of his, as well as the rest of him, for life, grrrrrrrrrrr

Born, I am so very sorry I didn't message you to tell you we were hanging out at the LC trial on WS. It was such a mess for the first couple of weeks with the lousy, actually worse than lousy, audio and video, that I didn't know from day to day if all the equipment was going to explode. We were a very small group here on WS, but vocal, and we kept complaining to various entities and somebody got it all straightened out just in time for the defense's case in chief. The defense attorney was the worst of the worst 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 who told the judge how to run the courtroom and the lead prosecutor was useless. The prosecution's second chair, a female, had some fire in her but it was too little, too late. Anyhow, again I'm sorry I didn't give you a holler. But the not guilty verdict would have just upset you so it's just as well. Because Levi Chavez murdered his wife.

I am trying to follow another trial right now in AZ, Chrisman (Robert? can't remember his first name right now) was a yet another cop, who executed an unarmed man--and his dog--in the man's mother's home with the mother watching. With another cop standing right there. No live stream and living by tweets is killing us on this one,,,,don't know if I can endure through the end. Juan of the Jodi Arias fame is prosecuting the cop so that's the interest for most of us, and it's mostly the same small group who were together on here for the Levi Chavez trial. They want to join us for the Hayes/Haze trial and I am on fire ready for that one to start. If WRAL backs out of the live stream for whatever reason I'll just have to move in with my Clayton son and drive to Raleigh every day for the duration. We absolutely cannot miss somebody--Boz, Becky, or Judge Stephens, slapping that ***** eating smirk off of Haze's face!

Following Chrisman too but coverage on tv has been so sporadic and no one seems to know what they are doing. "No we won't film, yes we will, no we won't, oh here is some taped coverage from this morning..." gahhh gimme a break.
I donated to the chavez family to try and get the civil suit to trial. I so badly want them to have justice in some form....even though it is nice to see the consequences of LC's actions hit him. And it will just get worse for him.

I just double-checked the Wake County Superior Court calendar for 08/26/13, and Mr. Hayes is on the docket in Room 0701 for 9:00am. They're in the new courthouse -- seeing "Room 0701" was strange since there were no courtrooms with a number starting with 07--. New stuff. It will be interesting to see what the new courtrooms look like....

I wonder how many folks are in the jury pool for this one? It hasn't been on the news lately, and all parties were heretofore "unknown," i.e., no celebs, so maybe finding a jury won't take too long... Maybe it'll take only a couple of weeks, and then they'll let the cameras in -- if there are to be any...

I mentioned to His Sweetness, NCSU95, a couple of weeks ago when I was wishing him a happy birthday that he absolutely must join us for the Hayes/Haze trial and he, for a moment, thought it was another case. I don't think this case has gotten a lot of local publicity so hopefully picking a jury won't take forever.
I didn't watch the Chrisman trial yesterday or today, body issues, that darn well better be fixed by the time this Hayes/Haze show gets on the road. We've waited 2 years and that nasty Grant Hayes/Haze is in for the ride of his life. His ego is already so huge we may see him explode when he sees the tv cameras in the courtroom. And they better be there. I may call WRAL tomorrow to inquire....will let everybody know what I find out. The Durham tv station, can't think right now--WTVD??--do they use WRAL's live feed or do they have their own video and audio equipment? For the most part both stations have carried the high profile trials we've watched in the past few years but I don't know if one is piggy-backing on the other.

The suspense is killing me. I keep looking for something on wral. Thanks for filling us in on the Aug 26th date.. I will be waiting with bells and whistles for this jacka** to go DOWN. In other words, I will be here cheering the prosecution on and really really can't wait for opening statements.

Jury selection is scheduled for 8/26/13. I hope WRAL will "live Stream" the trial.

Grant Hayes pleads not guilty to killing Ackerman

Snipped:

In court Friday, Grant Hayes' habit of singing and talking to himself was discussed, but his defense attorney said "it was just weird," but not incriminating.
Judge Donald Stephens told the attorneys that in jury selection they will conduct questionnaires that will make sure the jurors don't have an opinion in this case.

This just in on WRAL's 8pm internet news:

Raleigh man pleads not guilty in ex-girlfriend's July 2011 slaying

Raleigh, N.C. — Defense attorneys for a Raleigh man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend have asked a Wake County judge to allow testimony in his upcoming trial about an alleged "confession" his wife made in which she said she shoved the victim and "hurt her bad."

Grant Ruffin Hayes, 34, faces a first-degree murder charge in the July 2011 death of Laura Jean Ackerson, 27, whose dismembered body was found in a creek in Richmond, Texas – about 60 miles south of Houston.

Thanks for all of the video links and other links today everybody.
So with the information that I gathered from this, Amanda Hayes' sister, Ms. Berry, knew why they were in TX and was somewhat complicit in hiding LA's body (parts)? Not that she actually went out on the boat with them, etc. but she had knowledge? That's my take but I have not fully watched the entire video yet but based on what I have watched it appears that way.
Born, can you remember how old the baby was that Grant and Amanda had when this murder took place? I'm thinking it was only a few weeks old at the time. I really need to brush up on this case, I have forgotten a lot.
Since they had a camera in the courtroom for today's motions that gives me hope that WRAL still intends to live stream the trial.
Boz and Becky H. better be on their game....we've been on ours for 2 years.

I just sat here and typed out some thoughts based on today's motions hearing and I sent the post and it disappeared. I didn't have to sign back in or anything--poof, it is gone. I didn't curse or break any rules. Well, it's late now so I'll think about it all again tomorrow and send it a second time.
At least AH is looking healthier and more sane and rational per today's surprise visit to the courtroom than she has in the past. I hope all of this doesn't end up in her lap and he sails out of it somehow.

I just read an article from the San Fran Chronicle, based on an article from the Raleigh News and Observer, that once again called Amanda Hayes 'wife' but then went on to say they were not married.

Here is the excerpt: "Forty-year-old Amanda Hayes is also charged with murder. The Hayeses were a couple but not married."

Mention had been made previously that Grant and Amanda were not married but there has been no specific data from anywhere to ascertain for sure if they are or are not. I'm going with are not.

Hi, 'East! That's what I remember, too, about the Grant/Amanda baby -- that it hadn't been too long after the birth that the murder, etc., took place. I'll try to look back & see what I can find...

ETA:
I found this line, "Grant Hayes, a local musician, recently married Amanda Hayes, Anderson said. The two have a 3-month-old child together," in the following article, which was"Posted: July 28, 2011" --

http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/9925446/

And I found that article in the WRAL news archives, which is a good source for us to refresh our knowledge about this case to be READY for the trial:
