That storage facility didn't have climate control (a/c).

http://www.securcareselfstorage.com/self-storage-locations/self-storage-raleigh-nc-1/#!#unitList

Even though July 14 & 15 weren't 90 degree days, it would still be d@mn hot inside a metal storage unit, mid-July, door rolled down, with the two of them in there, trying to cut Laura up. Temps were in the high 80s with the humidity also in the high 80%s.

The only time they had without the boys was when Sha took them to Monkey Joes the day after Laura disappeared.

Which brings me to the question, where was the baby while all of this was happening?

AnonymousD, did you get a screen shot of the furniture on the front porch of Berry's house? I recall it, but not sure from where. I'm interested in whether that was the hall tree and whether it was wrapped in moving blankets. Sha testified that the hall tree was on the left-hand side of the storage unit wrapped in moving blankets.

I think Grant had Amanda cleaning and taking care of the kids..MOO. I believe they both wanted her dead and each served a role in their plans. Amanda seemed pretty damned chipper with the kids on the Chick-Fil-A video. And wearing her usual black outfit (note she was wearing black in both surveillance vids and the black ?yoga? pants with bleach stains were found in the trash bags).

ETA: Heh..I just realized that they had a thing for black stuff (not that it's bad in and of itself), the sofas, the shower curtain, the bath mats, etc.

I'm 99% sure I did. But I believe that's when I was using TinyPic to host. I think it's on the previous thread. Give me just a moment ;)

Surfie, is this the pic you are thinking of?

Boz said in his opening statement it was a SKIL Reciprocating Saw. He also said he purchased a tarp, googles, gloves and extra blades during this particular shopping spree that took place at 2:40 am on 7/14.

To me, it kinda looks like a motorized hacksaw.

Here's one in action -- starts at 2:15 .... youtube

I seriously need to stop thinking about this. It's driving me crazy. I can't imagine how the jurors are feeling.

I know this is disgusting, but doesn't the body have to be past rigor to dismember? Or maybe not. I don't know. I don't think Grant did the deed in the apartment. Did the storage unit have electricity or outlets?

These 2 have to be ranked with the dumbest criminals ever.
They drive 20 hours to TX, could they not have taken all this trash with them and disposed of it bit by bit along the way? I know they passed swamplands.
Just think if they had dumped one bag every few hours along the way, not to mention the remains.
Instead they toss it all in their own garbage, and put the remains almost on a relatives land....idiots.

Thank goodness if people are going to be mean & nasty & truly do horrible things, often to good peeps who don't come close to "deserving" it -- thank goodness they all seem to think they can outwit LE and prosecutors.

Have we ever, ever seen a defendant who didn't think he/she was smarter than LE? And these two are blue-ribbon examples -- in spades!

:liar: ------> :liar: ------>:jail:

:put em up: . :python: . :tsktsk: . :sponge: . :no: . :bricks: . :denied: . :iamashamed::juanettes:

In this case, and so many, many others, these perps with their wiles and smarts (and truly some have both) are up against a collective 100-150 years of LE experience... Every crime is different, but hard-earned experience will beat them nearly every time.

Ab.so.lute.ly, Nymeria!!

I posted that same thought a couple of days ago. What about that 20-mile bridge that was over lots of swampy area, if they were determined to go to Texas? All they had to do was be on it 2:00--4:00am and they could have had a marathon Swamp Thing Fling. Just have the body parts such that they could have been dumped out the car window and make about 7-8 dumps, and the alligators would have taken care of things....

There are plenty of bridges between Kinston & Raleigh -- same thing and save on gas!

Thank you! It is a long drive, lemme tell ya. We couldn't make it in 1 day with 2 older kiddos in tow. Of course, we weren't pumped up on adrenaline either. :stormingmad:

I'm super curious what evidence they have on Amanda. Thus far, she has been made to seem fairly innocent other than disposing of the acid (no warrants for her emails, showing her alone with the kids at the chickfila, etc.).

And another thing, there are a LOT of respirator masks. Wouldn't the apartment start to stink after a while?

bbm

My question as well, SurfieTx -- Where was the body? They "had" it for days & days. On ice in coolers in the storage unit perhaps? Those coolers were pretty good ones -- my DH surf-fishes a lot, and ice will stay frozen for days if the cooler is closed tightly. So I guess it would work -- until they were opened, and that surely, Shirley, would have been a knock-you-down-on-the-floor odor. <gag>

Idiots.

I"m happy to.

I'll put the one up of the judge after we have a verdict. I'll feel more comfortable about putting it out there after that. I hope you guys understand.

The rest of what I've grabbed today is a lot. Should I put them here? It will make the thread load so slowly......

Separate thread for the pics?

Whatever is easiest for you, AnonD!

I've thought about it a lot, too. I genuinely want to know how they did it & where. Weird I can handle real life things like this, but scary movies wig me out. Heck, I can't even watch Criminal Minds it freaks me out so much.

I would think the storage unit did not have outlets inside. A lot of them don't even have lights inside each unit.

I'm ok with waiting on all of them. But I would love to see the one of the Judge when the trial is over. I may try to save it, he is my local hero, and this may be his last trial.

Will he wait to do AH's too? Hmmmmm. I don't want to give him up, but he surely and rightfully has earned his retirement and little drinks with umbrellas sticking up. And fudge. And brownies. Ice cream. BBQ. Swimmin' pools, movie stars. Sleeping late. Grandbabies.

:blushing: Do I ask a mod to make one? Or do I just add one here? I do think it would be easier for all of us if we had a thread for just evidence.

The only other trial I've followed is Travis Alexander, which had it's own subforum....so I'm kind of feeling like a newbie for even asking what I should do here. :blushing:

Cell phone pings from that area were their first clue. Then they found out about the trip, and then saw the creek on Google maps, or one of those satellite photo systems. IIRC.

Excellent! Thank you, my good friend! :seeya:

So basically these two geniuses have never read about any other murder case, ever, made things ridiculously complicated for themselves and left a gigantic, multi-state evidence trail?

:floorlaugh:
Yep, that's pretty much it, ArianeEmory!
icon10.gif

Good summation!

And thank goodness they were smart about it, or it really would be confusing.

Okay, this is a gross question, but when they were cutting up the body, wouldn't there be blood spraying everywhere? I know blood wouldn't be streaming through the body at that point since the heart had stopped, but I don't know how that works about the blood that's already in the body.

Sigh. In one of the other cases I follow, the jailed/accused murderer has a loyal contingent of followers (read: he is young/wealthy/handsome). His defenders' main argument, with the dead man's body on his property and the dead man's truck in his trailer? "No one would be so stupid as to leave all that evidence behind." (Ergo, he was framed, of course.)

I often want to point them to this case. :)

Would anyone be able to identify who this older gentleman is in this photo?

I've seen him lean in at the Defense table on other days & speak to GH.
