I quoted & removed the last picture, borndem. It was of AH. Her FB profile pic, iirc. (which is still viewable, but with a very limited # of friends)

Ooh, and Ouch, AnonD -- A very big Thank You. OMGosh! Ack! TY!

ETA: The pic, where I found it, was with a bunch of other of LA's -- I am not a FB'er and certainly not a friend of AH. Thanks for yanking it outta there!

:jail: Well, it's a start -- he's at the Big House right now! :jail:

Hayes' partial record at the Department of Public Safety

Give it a couple/triple of weeks or so, and we'll get to feast our eyes on his official full record: assigned Custody Classification, Control Status, sentence (yes, we know, but it's nice to see it officially a part of his record), his crime, and his new residence.

I don't see any 'out' for AH in somehow getting away with this crime. She will be spending many years (and perhaps life) in prison. No reason to worry--she's not going to walk free. Just by acting in concert she is knee deep in this.

I believe, after re-listening to the judge's instructions to the jury in GH case, that Amanda will get 1st degree murder. It clearly states that the jury can find 1st degree whether the person committed the murder themselves or acted in complicity with another. And if that person didn't commit the actual murder, but did other things to help with the murder, then they are complicit in it. I would even argue that baby-sitting the kids so that GH would be free to kill Laura can be clearly see as "helping with the murder," along with the other million things she did.

And the prosecution will prove that she helped Grant plan it, first of all proof is GH clearly lured Laura to the apartment, and for their killing plan to work, Amanda would had to have known ahead of time to hide the kids, etc..

Yes, it might be .00001 degree less than GH, but nevertheless she will get 1-st degree.

What also makes me sick is how he just replaced her with a look-alike. I can't imagine my husband leaving me and starting a new life with someone who looks so eerily similar to me. I cannot imagine the pain she was in during that time when he just left her with nothing to go start a new life with this new woman.

Her pain started so long ago and continued until her death, so sad.

When GH started dating AH, LA was basically a full time mom w/ 2 kids. My understanding is that she was not working outside of the home so she was totally dependent on him. When she came back to the states for medical care for her youngest, he dumped her & wouldn't send her any money. She had to move in w/his parents until she could get on her feet & start over. While she was in this most vulnerable time, he filed for custody stating she had no place to live, no job, etc. Well, duh, GH put her in that position! While she was down, he just stomped all over her. This was only the beginning of his campaign to obliterate LA. He had been at it for over a year when he finally DID obliterate her. His hatred toward the mother of his boys destroyed so many lives.

I don't see one ounce of resemblance between Laura and AH.
To me Laura has a "soft" almost angelic face, OTOH, AH to me has hard features with demonic eyebrows and a cold face. I just don't see it :moo:

This is sad, so get ready, I did some searching on child visitation for inmates, and UNFORTUNATELY he will be able to see ALL his children.
I have a feeling that G-ma will take them :banghead: this makes me SICK!!!

At least he is "paying" a dear price for it -- almost with his life -- but yes, he has already had many, many days that she has not had and that she will never ever have on this earth. And as you say, Marilou, those little children did nothing to deserve never being able to see, be held by and loved by the one who loved them most.

And there are his parents -- and I think they are good folks (that is the only way I can look at all this and not want to scratch his eyes out) -- now they are taking care of three children -- assuming Lily is still with them. His folks are taking them on every day, every night, full time, full care. Cooking, feeding, being school parents, sports and/or music/arts parents, sick-child parents, Cub/Girl Scout parents, buying clothes and shoes for three, doctor bills for three, Christmas/holiday parents for three, hauling around town parents for three, ad infinitum. $$$/:hourglass::hourglass::hourglass:

And as another WS'er said -- these innocent children most likely will have it even tuffer than other children simply and certainly because their reasons for being raised by their grandparents are well-known in that small town. Growing up for them may be a challenge for the g-parents and those grandchildren.

Yes, tragedies all around this one selfish evil act.

I can't get my mind off the children, who will suffer more than their father. I pray daily that GH's parents will not force them to go to visit him in prison. I hope they do not send him photographs again. I hope they let Laura's boys know what a wonderful woman their mother was.

Laura was just coming in to her own. She had an apartment with a lovely room for the boys. She found the strength to fight him for custody.

I do hope that AH gets the same verdict, the same sentence. I still remember GH's comment that he was marrying a "Stepford Wife" who would, by definition, do his bidding and smile while doing it. Apparently, while Laura wasn't at her fullest strength when he had those two boys with her, she had that spark of determination he could not control.

IMHO, he found AH had the assets he wanted most. She was a woman who would support him and take care of his children.

I hope Boz makes that very clear in her trial. She went along with everything he wanted, including the murder of Laura. That makes her as guilty as he is.

OMG, but r sure that it's NC, b/c the poster Madeleine on here said in NC they aren't allowed to visit until age 16?

I feel bad for the grandma, I really do, however I just get a bad feeling that Laura's kids get to be with someone who has a strong connection/love for Grant. After all, that's her son. She may even believe his story that he was covering up for Amanda (I can understand how denial would make her believe that). She may believe all that stuff about keeping the "vows", etc, etc..

I know there were some accusations and things going on with Laura's dad and I'm assuming she doesn't have other relatives that the kids can be with. I wish there was someone in her family who could take the kids, I really do. Lily, fine, Lily can stay with the Grandma, poor thing, she has it bad on both sides (mother and father). But Laura's two kids, I believe, should not be allowed to stay with Grant's parents. Visitation is ok, but this way they are forced to have a connection with Grant, whether they want to or not. The mother will not just let GH go, I believe that strongly, she is still the mother no matter what. She probably just wasn't in court b/c she didn't want to appear in public supporting her monster son, and also she may also have feared that it would bring attention to his kids being with her.

Unfortunately, it is possible for the children to be brought to prison for visitation. I hope his mother chooses not to.

I wish these kids had been immediately removed from the H family and placed, with at least the two boys together, in a good home far from Kinston.

I totally agree, about the kids being placed OUT of Kinston. The G-parents are elderly, where will the kids end up next? I made a strong comment on that topic early on. The kids will NEVER be able to move on here in Kinston. PERIOD! This nightmare has no end :stormingmad:

I agree, if they are allowed to stay with the grandparents, they should at least move to a different town and away from where everything happened. But sadly since the grandparents are elderly I doubt they will be able to do that, physically or financially. Just so sad all around.

I also agree that it would be much better for them to move into a good home somewhere else with a good family, they are still young and will adjust better than older kids. It's not fair, no, but it's the best option. Cut off from GH forever. I wonder if there would even be any family though, knowing the father is still alive (albeit imprisoned), it would be a tough thing for any family not knowing what he is capable of from the inside. Many families would not want to go near that.

This is where the person needs to get the death penalty. I don't see how it is for the kids, it is actually hurting the kids to keep this man alive. I think the prosecution didn't want to take the chance of losing the case if it was death penalty, God forbid this man got out completely (like that other case).

Has anyone asked if we can open a new thread (within Laura Ackerson) for AH's trial?
Not sure how to go about it, never started a new one myself. It would be good to open it now so we can keep up if anything happens between now and January 2014.

Do we PM a mod or something?

Nymeria -- and Mods -- I just started a new thread under "Awaiting Trial" for Amanda Hayes. If it should be moved, please do so -- and accept my thanks for your help in locating it to the better location.

Here's a link to the new thread:
