"Drifting into the abstract" is a NIN lyric, but "I'm just a pitiful anonymous" is a lyric from Marilyn Manson. I don't recognize the last part of that statement.

My chance to redeem myself, oldie that I am. Google is my friend. That last quote about dreaming is also a lyric connected to NIN members..the last line in "We fade away" by the band "How to destroy angels." What a sad song! But I love Jackson Browne's songs, so I can't talk.

The lyrics certainly fit someone who has lost his way in life.

I was just wondering where the knife came from. Does he usually sleep with a knife? Did he go to the kitchen to get one, then came back and killed her?

If he did that (and of course he won't remember), that seals it for 1st Degree -- he's already charged with it, but going into another room, looking for a knife, selecting & coming back is premeditation and planning.

Just saw a blurb mention it on Inside Edition - now.

Wow...it is also the lead story on Inside Edition with Deborah Norville.

You ALMOST redeemed yourself. lol "We Fade Away" is by How to Destroy Angels, which is Trent Reznor's wife's project. Trent contributes to it, though, and it does look like NIN did a remix of it on their album Ghosts.

Good catch! Thanks for figuring that out.

Yes, I went back and read more carefully and edited my post a couple of minutes ago. I was too excited to get it right the first time around. :)

I was impressed, Lilibet! About all I know about Trent Reznor is he said that Johnny Cash did a better version of "Hurt" than NIN did, and he made it his song....and I agree.

I was just kidding around with you. Trent is involved with both NIN and HtDA, so close enough. I tried Googling that last part of his quote and could not find it. Funny thing is, I listen to some HtDA, and NIN is my favorite band of all time. Really, good job figuring that out.

Well, all I can say is "google is my friend." I know nothing about any of the NIN people. I guess that's my next research project. I learn so much on WS! :D

Just some advice, don't watch NIN's music video for the song "Happiness in Slavery" during your research. Awesome song, but you've been warned. :drumroll:

Ha! I knew you were kidding. It's fun trying to quickly untangle this stuff...even in the midst of tragedy. Now, ask me about Jackson Browne's lyrics and I probably won't need to google. Dating myself! :D

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/man-told-...aking-too-172005900--abc-news-topstories.html

A North Carolina man accused of killing his wife after he told a 911 dispatcher that he thought he committed the crime after taking too much cold medicine could potentially receive the death penalty if convicted, a judge told him today.

Bayer, the makers of Coricidin, said in a statement, "Bayer extends our deepest sympathies to this family."
"Patient safety is our top priority, and we continually monitor adverse events regarding all of our products," Bayer said, adding, "There is no evidence to suggest that Coricidin is associated with violent behavior."

Emph. mine

Well it's a good thing he let dispatch know what type of cough meds he'd taken. *eye roll*

Imo --- Just getting vibes of pure evil here.
Wonder if she'd been afraid of him before this ?

Rest gently , Lauren ! :(

Okay -- only because a guy with whom I worked had this problem -- married & divorced (no foul play) twice -- He came from a very conservative family and went to a conservative college. He finally came out and has a lasting relationship with a great guy & is happy, and is going to a different type church.

Could Phelps be gay & terrified & afraid for his mortal soul? (I'm being serious here.)

I need to ask - what is NIN? (I'm old too! But I do know Marilyn Manson ;) )

Yes something is off about him. (And I would have said that without knowing he's a murderer.)

Nine Inch Nails

Thank you! I could've googled but I thought it's faster to ask here (I was right seems) :)

I think that could be possible.

When I read their story on their wedding page it reminded me of a Friends episode where Ross courts Rachel by taking her to this auditorium, or what was it?

As if MP was trying hard to be romantic and special by copying something he'd seen elsewhere (not necessarily Friends). jmo

A couple of us kinda tip-toed around suggesting this last night. I definitely think it is a possibility, and I have nothing to base that on. MOO

He is full of it, isn't he? There are such excellent points being made here by fellow posters. Your observation about him emphasizing the specific formula of the corricidin, is really noteworthy. He's calling 911, his wife is dying on the floor by their bed of stab wounds he inflicted & he's relating the info of the cold/cough medicine to the dispatcher? I too believe he researched before hand, what alibi he would use. How about the details he provided during his phone call? He starts sobbing at the end of a seven minute call? How about the point another poster made about the time he's calling the police, shortly after 1am. Given that the police arrested him after 6am of the same morning, is really telling. I'm certainly interested about any information that may come out regarding his first marriage. I . We know he doesn't have a police record. Lauren loved & believed in MT. Thinking there were chinks in the armor of behavior she may not have seen.

bbm

I agree with you & Boodles re the research & specificity of the medicine -- most people, especially in such circumstances as his, would say "I took some cough syrup," or some (most, IMO), people may be so upset, they might not have remembered taking anything at all. That should be a tiny detail compared to seeing your wife dead on the floor and blood on your own clothes. It's total b.s.
