A Fayetteville woman is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly trying to smother her infant child.

I often wonder if some of our missing children cases are just this simple. Mom goes around the bend for a while, smothers/beats the child, then dumps them somewhere before calling police - if they do that. To me, this case makes some disappearances less mysterious.

Unless she had other psychiatric diagnoses, sounds like post-partum depression/psychosis to me.
