GUILTY NC - Lynn Jackenheimer, 33, murdered, Hatteras Island, 3 July 2012

His parents aren't talking? Hopefully they've given complete statements to police ... no one else needs to know at this time. It may answer the question of whether she could have been in the car.

It's surprising that she hasn't been found yet if she was left under some brush near their rental while ghost crab hunting (per the daughter when she last saw her mother). What kind of wildlife is in the area?

his parents have made no public statements or pleas to him, unless she was in the trunk the kids would have known if she was in the car....& if she was in trunk, only Nate knew of course

the peninsula is long down there, alot of land to cover, not surprising at all thats its difficult....idk of the wildlife in the area

They stayed in a nice place. Would they have gone ghost crab hunting along the beach? I'm curious about the time of day. Were the children in the house while they were ghost crab hunting? Did only he return after the crab hunting, put them to be and that was that?

the weather (storms) have made the search harder....haven't been able to se the dogs/helicopters much

also, Nate never said she was near the rentals...(in fact, its a good chunk rentals if im not mistaken, all over down there)....what he told his brother was is she ain't coming back, he strangled her, buried her under some brush

If the daughter last saw her mom when she was "ghost crab hunting", this helps in figuring out the place, time of day, how long he/they were gone - and therefore how far he could have gone to get to the "brush", what happened next and where she might be. We know she was drinking sangria before it happened.

Just read your post above ... so ghost crabbing is a late night event. She can't be that far from the rental ... they must both have been drining sangria ... so no one was driving drunk with a body in the car.

And the friend did say that if the guy heard what she said on the phone, it would not be good.

Was he looking to rebuild the relationship so he financed the vacaation and was she with him only for the sake of ensuring that her son had a happy childhood and relationship with his dad? That could definitely lead to a problem for him. Since it was a volatile relationship with domestic violence, that difference in what they were doing together plus alcohol may have been a trigger of sorts.

According to her FB, daughter is 13, son is 3.

Surely they can get some sort of information from her daughter.

Maybe someone already said this, I apologize if that's true, but they say the girl is special needs. I shouldn't have, I admit, but I figured she couldn't communicate what took place. They did say all she does is cry and get emotional. Maybe by now she is able to help.

I am sad that his parents haven't made an emotional plea for him to turn himself in.

Just listened to brothers 911 call and now is clear why the inconsistency about where the kids were dropped off...inthe call he states he is the brother of NS and he wants to report a possible murder.. he says his brother went with his ex girlfriend and kids to NC and that he just got back to Ohio and dropped the kids off with him(N's brother) who was at their(as in nate&brothers) parents home(ie. Grandparents to the 3yr old and as some articles were reporting) ..he says his brother told him that he strangled LJ in NC and his brother took off after having dropped the two kids there at the grandparents home which is where the 911 call is made.

I don't know what you're going to think of this comment, but you gotta give the guy credit for calling 911 right away. I don't think most family members would have the decency to do this.

North Carolina authorities suspended the search for a missing Ashland woman because of poor weather Friday afternoon.

"The forecast got really bad," Dare County sheriff's Maj. Norman Johnson said. "They're predicting heavy rain."

Johnson said searchers managed to cover a lot of ground before the rains came. They conducted searches by ground, air and boat.

"There's a lot of little canals (on Hatteras Island)," Johnson said of the decision to search by boat. "It makes it easier."

Ashland authorities have recovered the cellphones of both Jackenheimer and Summerfield.

"What we completed did not give us any more details on the case," Johnson said.

He said he wasn't sure when authorities would resume the search.

"We're in the process of reviewing information from Ohio authorities," Johnson said. "We need to digest this information and evaluate what we need to do next."

As of Friday evening, Johnson said authorities had no plans to continue the search today.

"We don't have any plans to resume the search, but as information comes in, we may start searching again. We have a whole new pattern now and are analyzing the information we have," Johnson said.

That information, though not yielded from the search, has shed new light on the investigation, Johnson said. He said authorities in North Carolina are "constantly" receiving new information from authorities in Ohio, narrowing down time frames and other information to aid in the search. And as family members arrive from Ohio -- more are expected today -- officials have been interviewing them, learning more about the places Jackenheimer may have visited during her stay on the island.

Prior to July 3rd, a hotel worker at a Super 8 off Williamsburg Road says she checked Jackenheimer into a room but never saw her ex- or the kids.

A waitress at a Pizza Hut two doors down told me she loaned Summerfield four bucks for gas. He had promised to pay her back, but vanished without a trace.

Police say Summerfield checked in at another Super 8 off Chamberlayne Road on July 7th, but Jackenheimer wasn’t with him this time. Hours later the search was initiated in the North Carolina.

Very interesting new information! Hmmmmmm....I wonder when prior to july 3rd was?

So it sounds like they stopped in Richmond for the night on the way to the rental cottage? Sometime prior to July 3rd. I don't see how this makes a difference in the fact that they did make it to the rental after that time. And that NS made it back to Richmond without Lynn on the 7th.

I think the phone call with her friend on the evening of the 3rd and the pictures that were posted on her facebook indicate that they did make it to the rental eventually.

MOO

You're right Kamille. I had my dates mixed up. Not so interesting after all.

Well it is interesting as lj was teported alone..did her and ns have a fight and she left and then returned? Someone has recently came forward to report that she saw ns, lj and kids on the 7th in salvo. Soo much info out there but honestly all that matters is that they both are found.

He was probably parking the car and waiting for her to get the room richmond would have been 8 hours in the car . That would have been before anything was going on and IMO before Nate would have even known what kind of trouble he was about to put hisself in.

Easier to leave the kids waiting until check in is complete. They are grumpy and need food and bathroom and to burn off energy.

I absolutely agree that it would be easier to check in without kids..but they were not seen at all. Also, what about the sighting of lj on the 7th? This changes everything..and maybe this why the search in obx has been indefinitely stopped. Our community but more than importantly the family needs answers.
