GUILTY NC - Maggie Daniels, 31, murdered in her Newton apartment, 27 June 2014

The comic strip is MD "P.I." and had a 2011-2014 copyright has comments from 2013. I think it's a coincidence due to a common name. Also, the 911 caller did not say anything about her being tied.

Two weeks and no arrest in death of Newton school teacher

The Walmart surveillance video shows Maggie in pink shorts and a t-shirt. The maintenance worker says around noon the same day she was wearing black sweat pants? If it was hot enough to be wearing shorts why at mid-day is she in clothing that one would wear in much cooler weather? Something doesn't make sense. Perhaps he is mistaken as to when he saw her?

My opinion is this wasn't a random crime. Someone knew she left the door unlocked and in my opinion, it could be a former student, or someone who wanted to exact revenge against "the teacher". Curious if LE is checking all the students (and their parents) from this past year. Also not seeing in the news articles if anything was missing from her apartment.

Yeh, especially odd that the sweatpants would be black, which absorbs heat. Has anyone posted here the temperatures and weather for noontime that day? If it had cooled off and a storm was looming, I could maybe understand her wearing sweatpants in case it started raining on her way home. Otherwise, I'm really baffled by the maintenance worker claiming to see Maggie wearing black sweatpants not long after she was seen wearing pink shorts (verifiable by the surveillance footage).

IMO, I don't see this being a revenge killing by a student because it happened well enough into summer. When was the last day of school? Any student, or even fellow teacher, or parent who might feel slighted in some way by Maggie would have plenty of time to calm down. They would most likely have acted while they were at their angriest. Of course, there are people who spend their time seething about something until their anger builds to a boil. So, IDK.

Are the apartments air conditioned? It could have been cool inside so she might have liked wearing sweat pants.

Good point regarding the time between the end of the school year and when the murder occurred, however, it would only have been 2-3 weeks. My thoughts were coming from her open door policy regarding students dropping in and no one in her complex would notice anything unusual if one did. It appears to be a nice apartment complex, however, secluded with a nearby wooded area providing the perfect undetected escape.

Hopefully by now LE has some idea who did this to Maggie.

I wear black yoga pants almost every day i can lounge around at home, regardless of winter or summer, so that doesn't seem odd to me

They were keeping the relationship private. He is not the killer.

I kind of hope that Maggie's open/unlocked door policy did not contribute to her murder. Somehow it seems worse if she was taken advantage of due to this trusting, if naive, lifestyle choice, jmo

Purely coincidental but kind've odd that she was reading this book the week before

I agree that post is stated as fact. I need a link or something to verify it....or else without it I have to take it as gossip.

OK the car being worked on and the warrants for phone records and returning to the car shop IS totally relevant. Someone had offered to pick up her car, from the shop. Maybe the shop is a walmart shop....connected to the walmart. We used to have one with ours but it shut down, and also one near a sears repair shop in the same shopping mall. So; whoever this person is at the repair shop....I would say they are the main POI at this point. They would have had to go directly to Maggie to get her keys from her to take the car back to the repair shop. And, they recently worked on her car..so maybe there is footage of her going into the repair shop. They want phone records from there...I say someone the man from that shop that wanted to pick up her car that morning was attracted to her, or possibly gained entry to the home, under the guise of picking up her car. Was her car picked up and at the shop? Were her keys with said shop? Those are the questions we should be asking; not about her students, or her neighbors....someone could have followed her from the car repair shop if they were not the one to pick up her car. I find the car repair shop to be the best lead so far in this case...so does LE as they've been back three times per the recent reports, and reports that her car was to be "picked Up"....I'm sure she was doing maintenance on it because she was planning a trip out of town. It's someone from that shop. IMO

Unless they have been named suspects by LE the friends and family members are off limits except to discuss what has been mentioned in MSM. We do not sleuth them as POI's.

Noone can be ruled out at this point but I agree if an older man offered to pick up her car that is odd..

LE should advise some details about what happened - if something sexual or a robbery was involved, public needs to be warned.

It has been my observation that often when LE is very quiet regarding details, they have someone in mind as a POI/suspect and are merely gathering enough evidence for an arrest. If that is not true with this case, then I agree, they need to alert the public to be more diligent regarding personal safety.

She does have a boyfriend. Nothing has been released in the media about it so I don't want to post any details. I don't know if her family wants to keep that information private or what. He is an amazing person and I truly believe he has nothing at all to do with it. He is very upset.

I know who he is. I feel he had nothing to do with her murder. He is extremely upset.

I totally agree. I feel they have a suspect in mind but not enough forensic evidence to make the arrest. However, I'm sure he is being watched 24/7. Who knows.... The guilty have a strong need to talk to someone due to their guilt. He will screw up before long I hope.
