GUILTY NC - Maggie Daniels, 31, murdered in her Newton apartment, 27 June 2014

Sorry, but I think it's weird that the boyfriend of a 31 year old woman who has been murdered is "secret." By no means am I implying he did it, but why is he such a big secret?

On Nancy Grace or JVM last night, a "good friend" of Maggie's spoke. When asked if she had a boyfriend, the woman said, "Maggie did not discuss personal things." Hinky. If she was seeing a married man or someone at school, perhaps people are trying to protect him from public scrutiny? But, she was murdered!! Why is everything hush hush about the bf? IMO.

Probably to keep him from public scrutiny.

They were keeping the relationship private. He is not the killer.

Just curious why were they keeping it private...?.....Could there be a jealous partner involved?..

Why would someone pick your car up? What was his mode of transportation to get to the repair shop to pick up the car? Did he call and leave a voice mail on her phone, as an alibi and the police knew it was made from the repair shop? Maybe he had held her hostage since Friday night. I also wonder if he possibly gave her an overdoes intravenously since at first they could not determine cause of death. He might have planned on making it look like she overdosed accidentally and then set up the car "pick-up" as his cover. JMO - purely speculation!

July 15, 2014: Police eliminating suspects in Newton counselor's death

NEWTON, N.C. -- Newton Police Chief Donald Brown says no single suspect has emerged as of yet in the two-and-a-half week investigation into the death of 31-year-old Maggie Daniels.

Brown said investigators have conducted more than 100 interviews, sent physical evidence to the state crime lab and studied numerous store security camera videos, but a nothing points to a specific suspect.

"Not pointing towards any one particular persona, no, but it’s a process of elimination. The more we can eliminate, the more we can whittle down our suspect pool," the chief said.

Is it just me or did those pics leading up the trail to the back of her apt leave an unsettling feeling with anyone else? I'm sure now any footprint is long gone, but hopefully LE got anything they could find back there.

I can tell you that one simple Facebook profile picture with a smile attracts strange men, it doesn't need to be dozens of selfies.

Yeah, just the other day someone on Facebook told me I looked exactly like I did in high school (which I might), but there's no record of this guy in any of my yearbooks with that name!

Yep - I get an eerie feeling too Dallen. Every time. I actually don't look at those photos for too long because of that!

We are not going to discuss friends, relatives, etc. that are not named as POI. It is against TOS. Also if a poster post a discussion about a relative please do not respond to the person by quoting that post and telling them they should not be discussing it. Alert a MOD so we can remove it. Thank you

In this case, I think I'd be looking for someone who perhaps mistook Maggie's kind, caring nature as something more. Someone who may then have felt humiliated and mis-led when they were rebuffed.

Police have evidently cleared several suspects, and as they generally start with the most obvious/closest people and work outwards, the killer may be someone who they haven't investigated in any depth yet.

"Police in Newton, North Carolina, said they've eliminated several suspects in the case of Maggie Daniels, who was found dead in her home on June 28"

Maybe it was someone who saw her out and about on several occasions and decided to finally make his move.

I noticed in the article you sighted:
Chief Brown says investigators have not found anyone who can positively place Daniels anywhere after noon on that Friday, the day before her body was discovered.

Now there's something for LE to zoom in on surveillance video wise - using surveillance video in the opposite of regular manner - by showing she is not in any at places where she normally would have been. IMO, something happened to during the afternoon.
I would help if LE would release some info about this case. I just hope we don't hear weeks from now when things are getting cold that they need the public's help... give us a timeline, cause of death, time of death, was place of death really in her apt. or was she moved, anything found in her car, time bank/money accounts last used... etc., etc...

Agreed, OldSteve. That's one of the points Judson Terrell made is to be sure the case does not go cold. I wonder if the Kelsey Cook girl who said MD liked her Instagram photo around 7pm Friday night has shared that small but possibly important detail with LE. I trust LE to do their job and don't want to interfere with their work... Just wondering if they have that information as it may possibly help with the timeline if it is indeed true that MD did that and not someone else "operating" her phone.

I agree with both posts. If she liked an IG photo at 7pm why wasn't she at dinner with her friend? If she were in distress at that time, why would she be on IG liking pictures, what was the picture of? Why would a killer browse IG and randomly like a photo UNLESS she was browsing IG and was caught off guard after just hitting the like button. IMO if that is her last known communication with anyone it's very important and should be reviewed by LE via Maggie's phone and the the IG timeline history. That is MUCH later than anyone else had communications with her that we (the public) know of so until they release more details it's a big key factor to the timeline.

I fear that this case has charged to a complete stall and am just praying for patience and confidence that there is some very good progress being made behind the scenes.

I hear you!

I'm hoping that LE are being deliberately vague in MSM as a strategy - and that they are really onto someone.

This cannot go unsolved.
