That smirk is disgusting and he is beyond disgusting.

Imo, rape cases are often dismissed if defendant declines to testify.

What a disgusting human being. Rest in peace Maggie, u were beautiful!

Wouldn't you just love to slap that smirk off his face??

Most definitely would like to know why the charges in both of these cases were dismissed. Also very curious exactly what he will be charged with regarding Maggie...

M1, Rape -- but oh, I hope not, burglary ??? Other than M1, just a guess, based on his former charges...

ETA: I just checked the "Who's in Jail" list of Catawba County, and here he is:

It kind of makes me wonder if he might have friends in high places. I hope I'm wrong. But, those are serious charges he faced. He should have been off the streets long ago.
From what has been reported regarding him so far, he doesn't appear to be one to have friends in high places. The only thing that crosses my mind at this point is both victims either recanted, refused to testify and/or there was lack of evidence. It is most unfortunate, as if he had been tried and convicted, Maggie would be alive today.

from your link:

''In 2010, he was arrested in Mecklenburg County and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree rape, assault by strangulation, burglary and kidnapping. The charges were all dismissed several months after his arrest.

In 2012, he was again arrested in Mecklenburg and charged with robbery, assault by strangulation and second-degree rape. The charges were dismissed two months after his arrest.

This is freakin' disgusting. I hope whoever is responsible for him continually walking free has Maggie in mind when they try to sleep at night. I'm thinking - drug informant, something like that. Makes me feel ill...

And yes, smirk removal. Here, I have an extra shovel.

I bet he's thinking he'll get off this one, too....

I have often wondered what the ‘very serious harm’ was that could have been caused if more info was released earlier.

Damage to the investigation?
Damage to other people?
Is he a little unbalanced? (Not that I think a person who rapes and allegedly murders is balanced.)

I just found it an unusual statement to make, as they don’t seem to care about releasing early info and the harm it may cause in many other cases.
Perhaps harm to the investigation itself if he had fled to some unknown location? As it is, thankfully he didn't make it past relatives in another part of the state. Or perhaps details of the crime scene itself, which I am curious if they will be released even prior to trial so as not to be able to find an "impartial" jury?

I guess Maggie’s boyfriend could possibly have also made distressed and distraught statements like “If I find him, I’ll kill him”. Police may have wanted to stop a well-liked and respectable man from ruining his life through angry vigilante justice.

Safest thing to do may have been to quietly gather proof and get this creep behind bars.

Vigilante justice also crossed my mind, by anyone who cared deeply for Maggie.

MOO.

I'd love to know why this monster wasn't convicted and incarcerated for those charges

Most likely because his victims were too afraid to testify against him.

In some of those crimes, though, it seems like there would be other (e.g., DNA, surveillance footage) evidence against him and wouldn't necessarily need a witness testimony to convict him....a burglary or robbery, for instance.

Every other crook I have seen walk like that on serious charges was an informant. If that's the case here, it NEEDS to be looked into, as do all other cases involving violent sexual crimes/serious felonies where the criminal is repeatedly let loose to cause further harm to innocent people.

It happens too often, WAY too often. And IMO the culpability for that harm after the first case lies in no small part with whatever agency lets these scumbags free.

I get really riled, every time I see it.

I'm on my phone & its late but if anyone is up tonight, go to Twitter & find me LJohnston413 and check out the convo I had with the girl about Sharman Odom. I will post tomorrow if nobody beats me to it. Her initial tweet was from 2012 and answered yes to my question of it being the same guy.
