Man stands on corner to help reunite lost dog with owner

A dog has been reunited with its family after a viewer sent WBTV a picture of a man standing on the corner trying to find the owner.

Jason Gasparik, the man seen in the picture, was standing on the corner of Ballantyne Commons Parkway and Rea Road with a sign saying “Do you know this lost dog?” The dog who had been temporarily renamed Roxy could be seen standing beside him in the picture.

Gasparik posted updates and says he found Roxy Friday around 11 p.m. after it turned out she had went missing midday Thursday. The owner who is partially immobilized due to a severe back injury was limited in searching for the lost dog.

Gasparik says he connected with Roxy’s owner through a woman who noticed the dog on social media. The two met up Sunday and Roxy was returned.

A North Carolina man did everything he could to try to get this lost dog back to her rightful owner, but when none of his usual tactics worked, he took to the streets of Charlotte with a sign hoping a passing driver would see it.

Jason Gasparik, his evening plans sidelined, took Roxy to a 24-hour vet clinic, where her microchip was identified. It wasn’t registered to an owner. Unwilling to leave the lost pup stranded, Gasparik took Roxy home.

“I made my sign with an old moving box and a tiki torch pole and decided to go to the corner [where I found Roxy],” he said. “I felt like a complete fool,” he admitted, but Gasparik braved the crowds to do what he felt was best for Roxy. And to his delight, the crowds responded brilliantly. Gasparik smiled and waved to supportive passersby, and within hours was something of a local celebrity. He asked everybody he encountered to aid the search by posting their own messages on social media.

Here’s to Jason Gasparik, the kindhearted efforts that reunited a lost dog with her loving owner, and the undeniable efficacy of a homemade sign on a tiki torch pole!

Thank you. Jason is a good man for doing all of this for Roxy.

What a beautiful story. Our pets are like our children. We would be devastated if they went missing.

Funny. I did this for my own dog and it totally worked. I stood on a popular corner in 5pm traffic with a sign. A lady stopped and told me that her neighbor had my dog in her yard. I followed her there and there sat my dog, chilling on the porch. The woman had picked him up from near my house and driven him to her house. I feel sure she saw my signs along the way. My dog did not have a collar on but he is microchipped, thankfully, since she wanted to try to keep him.

Oh, I would totally do this if I had to.

Man Who Stood on Street Corner with Sign to Reunite Dog with Owner Now Getting Date Requests

It was a simple sign made with ripped up cardboard and magic marker and a simple message: “Do you know this lost dog?” But the cute dog and the cute guy holding the sign got tons of attention.

He stood out there for three hours and, at the same time, the dog’s owner was frantically driving around calling for Roxy. He’s an older gentleman with back issues and can’t walk well, so he was driving with his windows down calling out her name.

....

Gasparik says he plans to stay in touch with Roxy and her new owner, and has promised to come take her for regular walks. “He can’t really walk her much and you could tell when she was with me that she loved going for walks, so I’m planning to go over there to see her this weekend.”

The photo also prompted a lot of women to reach out asking for dates.

“One lady offered to shelter us both!”
