Mariah Woods’ Mother Blaming Her Son For North Carolina Toddler’s Death: Report
http://www.ibtimes.com/mariah-woods...-north-carolina-toddlers-death-report-2623894

"After her mother’s boyfriend was arrested for the death of three-year-old Mariah Wood, her father came forward to allege that his ex-wife was*trying to shift the blame on Mariah’s 10-year-old brother.

Hunter has not been charged with any crimes in connection with Mariah’s death and has not been named a person of interest. Mariah’s brother also has not been charged in connection with her death. The official cause of death is yet to be determined by the coroner."

Reporter can't even get the last name right for Mariah or her dad (It's WoodS, idiot).

Shaking MDH!

Thank you!

I really really really hope and pray that someone talks him into not viewing her body! On a side note, when my Step-Dad died of unknown causes (we know now) in his bed his mother wanted to view the body at the morgue and she was told it would cost $$$ to do so...to this day I can't understand it.

AW needs understanding and support in his time of need. Where is the compassion for this man? He is a victim of a most horrendous crime. I doubt he is aware of much more than grief and anger.....

The members of the media AW is speaking with are no doubt showing compassion to him.

Mariah Woods’ Suspected Killer Had ‘Adult Temper,’ Smashed Windows With Bat
Neighbors claim the alleged criminal led a violent life before toddler's murder.

Hmmmm, not sure if you guys discussed this, but I think I know now why the quote was removed days ago re: this incident...the neighbor's name is different. Did they originally have the wrong name?

I have no idea what kind of a man AW is. I do know that he at least tried to do something about the children's dangerous living conditions. I can't blame him for releasing the CPS report because I can understand why he'd have trouble trusting the "system" to right the wrongs done.

"During the appearance, the alleged criminal wore protective body armor. Said Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller according to The Daily News, “It’s our obligation to protect him from any aggression in the courtroom. We did provide body armor for his protection. We don’t want anyone to take justice into their own hands.”"

Since I'm not familiar with what happens when a child is reported missing, can anyone answer the following?

1. Are all the residents within the home required to submit to DNA testing to distinguish any found from that of an intruder?
2. Are the parents required to undergo any drug testing to determine if there was any negligence that could have led to the disappearance?
3. Are the other minor children immediately removed from the home pending further investigation?
4. Do toxicology reports typically delay the ME report, hence making it preliminary?

Wondering if it would be a quick match to determine DNA found on Mariah or if additional warrants would need to be obtained. Hoping for some answers today and further charges in getting some justice for this little angel.

Toxicology tests take about 6 weeks.

Well, seeing as how the name referenced appears to be FB friends with the paternal side, I would think they're a little mixed up. MOO

Personally, I think he, as a parent, has every right to talk about anything he wants to talk about his very own daughter. I'll wager a bet that a jury would be very interested in what he has to say as well as any child custody judge.

Unless you have lost a child to murder and abuse, you have no idea what this dad is feeling. You can't even imagine the horror of losing a child unless you have been there. I have. With that being said, this dad begged authorities to save his children and they didn't. He begged authorities to make the mother let him see his children and they didn't. It is costly to get justice. I have also had to help my son fight to see his children from a mom and a situation similar to this one. Now one of his children is dead. The bf is charged with disposing of her body, but not her murder. Then you hear that the mom and bf are saying it was a surviving child that killed the other one. Can you imagine how that would feel to that child? We have people here that didn't believe the bf was guity until that CPS report came out. Can you imagine the horror if the accusations against the child got out? Can you imagine the anger you would feel knowing that these adults had gotten away with abuse before? Ther story was believed before? Then you get handed the CPS report. What would you really do? Sit on it and let your already victomzed child be accused of something horrific and wait for a court date to clear it up? Hoping that the town gossips actually pay attention to the truth? If you cared about your child, in a state of grief, feeling anger at the injustice, would you trust the system? I bet not. I bet any parent would do exactly what he did. They would release proof that the child was a victim of two adults and stop that reasonable doubt defense from even startng.

Given the dads past experience with the system, I don't blame him. I feel sorry for all he is suffering and continues to suffer. It makes me sad that people that are not in his situation would bash him for what he did. We don't know what he knows about what was being said about his son. Rumors can be more brutal than what was in that CPS report.

Also (sorry for the long post), I suspect the report that was released to the dad was a part of the death investigation that would logically be handled by CPS since children are involved. They have the resources to interview the children properly so it is less likely to be challenged by the defense. I don't think this report is a normal CPS investigation and that is why it was given to the parents.

These are all very good questions, and I really don't have legal answers but IMO:

1. I think LE would need warrants (probable cause) for DNA.
2. I think they can only be drug tested if arrested.
3. No sure the guidelines here - I think it would depend on the situation. Mom lying would definitely get the kids removed IMO.
4. LE will get preliminary reports, which they may share publicly, but toxicology can take up to 3 months.

This is my understanding..... feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I noticed that too, Margarita. I'm sure you are right. The source quoted in the original article had a completely different name.

Yes I remember specifically because I immediately edited out the name in the quoted post for privacy/safety when Jax mentioned that could be why the quote was removed.

Deleted.
Wrong thread sorry.
Too many murdered children lately, therefore too many case threads opened simultaneously.

There is a fund raising page (Mariah Kay Woods) set up by AW's partner's mother, asking for donations towards funeral costs and clothing for brothers. Also if people want to send cards or gift cards there is an address to send them to.

I thought the funeral home was doing it without a charge.

I respectfully disagree. When my daughter passed away, we were encouraged not to view her body. So we didn't. It has taken years of therapy to recover from that choice. Viewing the body brings closure - and a parent needs that. I wasn't there when my daughter passed away (like Mariahs Dad) and your mind plays all sorts of games on you. Losing a child is hell. But then the mind games your brain plays afterwards make it a million times worse.

If the children are removed from the home a hearing must be held within 7 days from the time the children were removed.

the dependency hearing that is mandatory was yesterday and it is not known if the boys are still in a relative placement. A child advocate is part of all this to facilitate things for the kids and supervise visitation if that was requested by social services or ordered by the court.
