I think it's connected but I don't know how. My guess would be possibly as a weight, even if it was just the drawers, they could have been old and quite solid wood, and he knew they were there having been in the house before.
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the details contained in this apparent CPS report. Maybe y'all can give me some insight.
According to the report, the boys said that EK was SA'ing Mariah and that he was physically abusing the boys. Apparently, bio-mom was aware of this abuse, as noted by the case worker in the report.
Now, it sounds like CPS was abundantly aware of this abuse happening. There were apparent eyewitnesses and physical evidence of abuse, all of this noted in the case workers report.
Now. If this report is legitimate, how on earth did CPS put those children back with KW? I mean, what was their reasoning? I get that a case falls through the cracks but this is Jacksonville, NC. I can't imagine they have enough cases in that little town that their caseworkers are overworked to the point that they would return children to a situation that dire.
I dunno. This whole thing with this report just isn't sitting right with me. Hopefully LE can clear some of this up and we can get the unfiltered facts of this case.

Well, after 2.5 years of emotional turbulence with Cooper Harris's murder, I thought I was leaving sleuthing behind. But here I am again---couldn't ignore this one, Jacksonville is literally just up the road from me. I'm very, very familiar with the area and so, have my ear to the ground.

My lurking status didn't last long
All these incidents are confusing me time wise but the abuse allegations came out after Mariah was reported missing I believe. LE could have tipped off social services during the initial investigation and legally LE is a mandatory abuse/neglect reporter. During the beginning days of the investigation I am assuming the boys were placed with a relative.
CPS has a bad reputation of returning children to a toxic household.
There's countless cases on here, where a child was placed back into the custody of mom or dad and next thing you know, that child is dead.
And in a lot of cases, the mother will usually get custody, regardless of the history of said parent.
In Sherin Mathews' case, abuse was noted by a doctor and CPS was notified and an investigation was opened. Sherin wasn't removed from the house and she was found dead in a culvert.
I understand that CPS is overworked, but these situations are becoming more common place
JMO
I don't know if I'm right or not, but I would think that in this situation where police are considering whether or not parents might have involvement in a child's disappearance, that when questioning siblings police would need a responsible adult present, and that adult could be someone from CPS?
Happens all the time.I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the details contained in this apparent CPS report. Maybe y'all can give me some insight.

Updated 7:12 pm ....dont think this has been posted yet.
Mariah was born to Kristy Kay Hunter and Alex Lee Woods on Nov. 8, 2014, according to Onslow County Register of Deeds. The two were married on May 24, 2008 and divorced June 28, 2017, according to the Register of Deeds. The couple was separated for about two years, according to court documents.
Hunter and Kimrey lived together in the Dawson Cabin Road home Mariah was reported missing from. Neighbors say the couple moved in at the home in August, which the landlord confirmed, but documents say the couple previously resided on nearby High Hill Road.
The crime scene tape was lifted at the Dawson Cabin Creek home Monday night.
At 5:12 p.m., a white Dodge Durango SUV pulled up to the house and a woman got out of the passengers side to an awaiting Onslow County Sheriffs deputy. They walked to the front door of the home and emerged 10 minutes later before the deputy escorted the woman back to the vehicle.
The woman, who deputies identified as Kristy Woods, covered her head and face with a hooded sweatshirt and would not respond to questions from The Daily News.

Dad has a case with DSS so any parent would be provided with a copy of the report. They weren't made public by DSS. But by dad.
Why would he do it? Well, no one listened to him before and now his baby girl is dead. I would say he's desperate. He wants public pressure so that they aren't "reunified" again.
That may backfire on him though. These cases are confidential and there can be penalties for releasing such info. I doubt the kids will be placed with him.
And more agencies need to work together to control this unhealthy epidemic and not rely only on social services. Social services can not be the only agency held responsible for the trend. I can name numerous other agencies but this is Mariah's thread for justice.
. Just to clarify - The cps report said the nose bleed incident happened on Nov 26, the day before she was reported missing.

I also doubt the kids will be placed with him. He may be upset with the system but it was not in his children's best interest to violate their privacy and confidentiality. Especially if medical records were involved. I didn't see what was released it was a serious lapse of journalism ethics.
Just totally at a loss why DSS documents of that magnitude would be made public at this time to anyone not in LE.
