AW was Mariah’s Daddy. I don’t understand why he’s being called bio-dad.

What a nightmare these precious children have been living. Any adults who knew of this abuse and looked the other way need to be charged & arrested. It makes me so angry thinking of these children having no one to turn to while this monster was sexually & physically abusing them.

I’m not even mad their Daddy released this CPS report. These children need a voice and protection from the possibility of further neglect and abuse.

In general terms if someone was murdered by suffocation and their remains had been in the water a few days would it still be apparent to the Medical Examiner?

I’m so sorry for Mariah’s siblings I wish there was a way the public could donate to give them a Christmas gift, if any children deserve one they do after what they have endured.

OMG your post about the manner of death just made my mind have the ugliest thoughts on how she was murdered.

The CPS report getting leaked is sitting very odd with me. I shared my personal experience in thread 1 regarding my Husband and Step Son. Long story short, CPS has been involved because of neglect from my Step Sons mother.

We had a Court date a few months ago regarding custody. We had a high power attorney and even he was NOT allowed to use previous CPS cases in Court that day.

Suffocation victims quite often will bite their tongue and inner cheeks. I think those wounds would be still be visible to an experienced autopsy specialist.

I'm behind on reading but just wanted to say this...

Mariah's brother may be responding this way because he feels very alone and basically abandoned by all the people who are supposed to love and protect him. He's scared out of his mind, has just lost his baby sister, his life has been turned upside down, and he has no idea who to trust. If these boys were removed from the home earlier because of abuse, sent to live with their father and his girlfriend, and then had the rug pulled out from under them and returned to the people hurting them, it's no wonder he feels "hatred" towards his father. Bless his heart, I feel so bad for him...both of them. And for Mariah. The father tried to save them and couldn't. And now he is grieving the loss of his precious daughter. His boys have been hurt and they have been witness to unspeakable acts of abuse. He is probably pissed off beyond words and is going to do anything he can to make sure the truth is known. That is likely why he leaked the CPS report. Moo.

Goodness. My heart is broken for these children. We've seen this pattern play out in so many cases. So many dead children. So many broken homes. So many destroyed lives. I tell myself to step away and then I am drawn back in, again and again. I have my own story of sexual and physical abuse that spanned over 40 years through five generations in my family. I have family members serving life sentences in prison for the things they did. Very much like Brittney Wood and her family's cycle of violence. It has taken me years and countless therapy sessions to heal and learn how to direct my heartache into something postive. I am praying for all of the people who genuinely love Mariah and her siblings. May peace come when they are awake in the dark hours of the night and may justice be swift for this little angel.

Thank you all for being the most amazing group of people ever.
We are all here for the same reasons.

IF these detailed CPS documents were served to AW on December 1, then why was EK not charged with at least child abuse against the 2 boys as well. It would make sense to wait until the body, and ME report, on Mariah to charge with those additional charges. Would they wait and and file all charges related to CPS report together?

Why give the CPS report to the parents before Mariah's body was recovered? Why would LE not have legally "gagged" AW instead of telling him not to talk to the media via a press conference?

This evening's revelations just blows my mind.

This doesn't address a parent (re: bio Dad) receiving and releasing CPS report to public but still good info.

On the subject of North Carolina law concerning CPS release of information

When Public Disclosure of Records Is Allowed

Gen. Stat. § 7B-2902

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a public agency shall disclose to the public, upon request, the findings and

information related to a child fatality or near fatality if:

• A person is criminally charged with having caused the child fatality or near fatality.

• The district attorney has certified that a person would be charged with having caused the child fatality or near

fatality but for that person’s prior death.

Nothing herein shall be deemed to authorize access to the confidential records in the custody of a public agency, or the

disclosure to the public of the substance or content of any psychiatric, psychological, or therapeutic evaluations or like

materials or information pertaining to the child or the child’s family unless directly related to the cause of the child fatality

or near fatality, or the disclosure of information that would reveal the identities of persons who provided information

related to the suspected abuse, neglect, or maltreatment of the child.

Within 5 working days from the receipt of a request for findings and information related to a child fatality or near fatality,

a public agency shall consult with the appropriate district attorney and provide the findings and information unless the

agency has a reasonable belief that release of the information:

• Is not authorized by State law

• Is likely to cause mental or physical harm or danger to a minor child residing in the deceased or injured child’s

household

• Is likely to jeopardize the State’s ability to prosecute the defendant

• Is likely to jeopardize the defendant’s right to a fair trial

• Is likely to undermine an ongoing or future criminal investigation

• Is not authorized by Federal law and regulations

HLN got them from WCTI who got them from Mariah's dad. There was a WCTI article posted that was removed. CPS reports are not public or considered "public records" unless and until they are introduced in evidence in a court case (and they might even be sealed then).

As to the question of why the boys might have 'hated' their bio father and his girlfriend----

I think their mother and her bf probably told the boys a lot of negative, hateful things to alienate them from their father. " He doesn't care about you, he doesn't want to call or come see you, his girl friend is all he cares about now, etc "...etc..:cry:
