As a geriatrics RN, I always wonder if he had a medical problem that caused him to become lost and eventually abandon his car?

Can't find any info. about his phone... unless I've missed it ?
Any chance he 'escaped' to a new life ?

Wandered away from the crashed car with amnesia ? :(

Am assuming the car was dusted for prints to see if anyone else was driving it. And was the seat in the usual position in which he was accustomed to driving ?

Some quotes from Martin's sister about Martin. Reading these made me very sad :( especially the detail about the T-shirt and the welcome home banner
'We will never give up:' Sisters continue to search for Raleigh man missing since June :: WRAL.com
“We will never give up looking for you until we find out,” Bankhead’s sister, Sarah Triplett, said.

Triplett and her sisters, who live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, said their brother is one of 12 siblings and the family is very close. They can’t imagine he would leave without telling somebody.

“We have no idea or no clue, so that’s what is so devastating because this is so much out of Martin’s character,” Bankhead’s sister, Elaine Harper, said.

Family members said Bankhead was known to be a world traveler, but he always stayed in touch with his family.
We just had our family reunion, which we’ve been having for at least 35 years, a couple of weeks ago and this is the first time Martin has missed one of the family reunions,” Triplett said.

Family members said they even had Bankhead’s T-shirt and a welcome home banner waiting for him at the reunion, hoping he would show up.

Exclusive: Family of Raleigh man wants answers in mysterious death
Family members said they learned Saturday that authorities found the remains of the 61-year-old Raleigh man.

But they still have a lot of questions about how he wound up 200 miles away from his home without any of them knowing.

Marisha Davis, Bankhead's niece, said that is out of character for her uncle.

"He never, never went anywhere without letting us know his whereabouts," Davis said. "It's unacceptable. Until I find answers I will never stop."
