The Statesville Police Department has re-focused investigative efforts towards locating Teague’s 1994 Jeep Cherokee, dark green with tan trim. The vehicle is registered under NC plate FBV-6537.


The vehicle has not been located or seen since Teague went missing and investigators are hoping that finding the jeep will provide additional leads in the case.

One Year Later: Marty Teague's family waits for answers on missing man

Cpl. Christy Cleary works in the Violent Crimes Unit and is handling Teague’s case. She said police haven’t seen much new information.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have any additional leads at this time,” she said Tuesday.

Cleary added that this case is different from most missing persons’ cases. She said typically either you have just the person, or the car missing; not both.

She also said Teague’s Jeep has not been found.

That unknowing is what makes it difficult to hold onto hope for those close to Teague.

Article: He is borderline diabetic and has high blood pressure, anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder.

Said Road is a couple of miles from his apartment, and is a dead end with woods. Sounds like he wasn't in a good place.

Missing Statesville man's Jeep found more than year after disappearance
His daughter Kansas Bonanno said she is relieved investigators finally found something, but she hopes this will lead to more answers.

"It's like something off of TV. I never ever thought this would happen to my family," Bonanno said. "My youngest Iris had just learned to sit up, and he was so proud because she was sitting up and I never thought that would be the last time I talked to him."

How strange that it took over a year to find his vehicle. I wonder if it has it been there the entire time or if someone else recently abandoned it there. The road where the Jeep was found is approximately 5 miles from the road where Marty lived: Google Maps

Of note, his daughter mentions that Marty was dating or courting a woman that lived in his apartment complex. When she asked this woman if she had any info about her father or knew what LE was doing, the woman suggested she go to the PD and ask to speak to a lieutenant, then call and put her on 3 way so she could listen in and hear what LE said. Rather than do that, Marty's daughter went to the station and spoke to a sergeant and told him that this woman was suspicious. He said they'd talk to her and as they were discussing this he tells her the woman is his ex-stepdaughter so while he won't go talk to her himself he'll make sure someone else does. That very night, the woman calls the daughter to talk about how the daughter had talked to her ex-stepfather. This obviously made the daughter very wary of Statesville PD.

Violent Crimes unit now has the case and is a different dept than the ex-stepfather is in. They've given the woman several opportunities to talk to them and she won't. They also mentioned she has some shady people on her facebook.

HUMAN REMAINS FOUND IN THE AREA THAT MARTY TEAGUE’S VEHICLE WAS FOUND

On August 30, 2019, Statesville Police Department received information that led to the discovery of missing person Marty Teague’s vehicle on an abandoned piece of property east of the city limits on Sain Rd. Statesville PD, along with Iredell Search and Rescue, NC State Bureau of Investigation and Troutman Fire conducted a search of the area. Due to the overgrowth of vegetation in the area, searchers were unable to access the entire area.

On Monday, February 17, 2020, Statesville Police Department received a call of possible human remains at the dead end area of Sain Road. Statesville Police Department returned to the area along with the NC State Bureau of Investigations and conducted a search of the entire area and collected the remains. All evidence was sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office for a forensic autopsy and identification. Once an identification is provided, we will share additional information.
