*Hearing (@ am session ET) - NC - Paitin Renee Fields (5) (Found the morning of Nov. 13, 2017, unresponsive in her own bedroom by her 19 yr. old uncle; she had been strangled & raped & died at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center on Nov. 16, 2017; she lived with her maternal grandmother) - *David Wesley Prevatte (19 @ time of crime/23/now 25) uncle arrested (2/16/22) & charged (2/16/22) with 1st degree murder, 1st degree statutory rape & 1st degree statutory sex offense with child by adult in the case. Prevatte was taken into custody by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana & is awaiting extradition. Was extradited 2/15/22 to NC. Held without bond. State will seek the DP.

Honestly, I find the slowness and the lack of information in this case almost insulting to little Paitin's memory. The constant smirking of the uncle on the photos does not help, either. Justice has taken longer than the little girl lived on this earth... And it's not like DP cases get instant execution after being convicted, either.
