Case History
The body of a full-term newborn, wrapped in floral print curtains and inside a plastic Food Lion grocery bag, was located in a landfill on Sparta Road. The surrounding trash probably originated from the following areas: Crisp, Pitts Crossroads, Edgecombe Tech, Trianangle, Heritage Hospital or Town of Tarrboro. Sanitation workers believe it to be from an open trash container located at Edgecombe Technical Community College.

There were several witnesses who indicated that a young woman driving a blue car was seen in the immediate vicinity of the container looking in and around it the previous day. They considered this odd given it was raining.

What is heartbreaking about this case is the baby is estimated to have been alive for 1 or 2 days after birth which isn't seen often when it comes to baby does.

Feb 25 1994 was a Friday, so the witnesses saw the woman around the trash container on a Thursday, and the baby could have been born either Tuesday Feb 22 or Wedsnesday Feb 23. Reason I was wondering was if the mother was a student at the college. When I was in college class schedule options were Tues, Thurs classes or Mon, Weds, Fri classes. Or combined Mon-Fri.
