By 6:30 p.m., she called police and the family had traced his cellphone near Hillsborough Road.

"There's been much searching there, and the car hasn't been found there," Jeline Hinkson said.

I hope they searched the area around Bennett Place for more than a car. Bennett Place is a historical site. It's an area with high grasses and woods.

I live in the area (within a few miles of their home and drive past that WellsFargo every day to and from work). There are some sketchy parts of Durham but where his car was found is not a particular bad part of town. There is a lot of shopping stuff very near there (Target, Sam's club, Movie theater, Petco, lots of restaurants). It's a busy area in general even if that specific place his car was left seems somewhat secluded.

Also, I think he probably went to the Riteaid at 1311 W Nc Highway 54 as it'd be on his way from Wellsfargo without having to do backtracking. (Unless they released the address in one of the news reports?) That Riteaid is fairly busy, the Riteaid everyone is linking too off Fayetteville Rd is deserted and if he went there people would remember him. I never see many cars there I'm not sure how it stays in business. Where the one at 54 and Hope Valley Rd is much busier and at a busy intersection with other places he may have wanted to go (gas station, Harris Teeter, etc). I am guessing he was going to Food lion or Harris Teeter for the lettuce, Food lion is in same shopping center as Wellsfargo and Harris Teeter is across the road from the Riteaid on 54. Both of those grocery stores are very busy so there would have been lots of foot traffic and people to have seen him, even during the middle of the day.

I wonder what he was doing on the computer that morning. That seems potentially important if this isn't the case of a kidnapping. However, we have a lot more robberies or shootings than you hear about kidnapping. I would believe more likely that someone would have forced him to withdraw money at an ATM or took the money he may have had on him than took him personally or shot him. It just seems really strange :( but then most cases that end up here long term do have a lot of unexplained elements.

Thanks! I updated the map...

Prayer Services planned for tonight at 7pm at his local church, Vintage Church, at 4310 Garrett Road.

http://www.wral.com/prayer-service-planned-friday-for-missing-durham-minister/13878221/

It also says in the article that the last known sighting is at Wellsfargo (at the corner of Woodcroft and HWY 751) so that seems to indicate he never made it to Riteaid or the grocery store.

It gave the apartment complex name and address of where the car was found: The Mews Apartments, at 1801 Williamsburg Road.

The Mews looks to be reasonably priced for the area and the biggest complaint everyone seems to have on an apartment ratings website is the bug infestations. Some mentions of break ins or car break ins in the area but no significant mentions of violent crime in the immediate vicinity. Car break ins in general in Durham seem to not be that unusual overall, it's been a problem in my HOA area where I own my home and my ex-boyfriend had his car broken into in our first townhouse we had in Durham in another area very close to Woodcroft.

An interesting point I saw in several reviews was how thin the walls were and how people could hear neighbors snoring or walking around very very easily. So if he was taken into an apartment any type of scuffle or fight would have been easily heard.

This is also not designated low income housing as is some other apartments in the area.

Has anyone seen a solid description of what he was wearing that day? Other than the black hat?

I grew up in Durham. Moved away 12 years ago and only return to visit family. I was almost car jacked a mile from my grandfathers house a few years ago. A guy tried to get in my car, then realized I had a gun.

I have a close friend who was murdered in 2002 that's a cold case.

Anyway. This case just bothers me. There has been a lot of crime getting closer and closer to Woodcroft. (Search American Tobacco trail on any Triangle news site). I was in that Rite aid building (I think it was another brand then, can't recall) in 2000 when one woman threatened to shoot another woman.

Sorry if I was rambling, again, this just gets me more than most.

This is so upsetting. If anyone did something to either one of my older parents, I don't know what I would do.

Thanks for the great map! And, from the map, I see the Wells Fargo has a drive up which I am just guessing he made his deposit and probably a withdrawal from. Such a short drive to Rite Aid from the bank. (Brings back sad memories of Jennifer Huston.) So if he didn't make it to Rite Aid, did someone follow him when he left the bank, then got him to pull over somewhere? I see traffic lights. Wonder if there were traffic cameras on any of the lights? I think there were 2 involved. One forced him to drive somewhere, harmed him, then dropped off his car at the apartments. The other could have picked up the one that was in his car where they disposed of his phone on the way out of town. I hope I am wrong and he comes home safe but I don't think he went anywhere voluntarily and he was robbed of the cash he had.

Sorry, don't mean to take over the thread but with the time difference I may be the only one still up! Do we know if he even made it to the bank? There are a lot of wooded areas in between the bank and where his car was found. I see a really nice golf course along the way. There would be too many people around there though. Locals, is there a vacant wooded lot nearby? I'm afraid they will find his body very close by.

Adding: After reading more thoroughly I see he did make the deposit at the bank.

I hope this search provides answers. I haven't read if he had any health issues, or did I miss that?

I was just looking at his FB photos and there's one where's he's making such a funny face. He talks of playing with preschoolers during that photo. He just seems like a sweet/fun gentleman that is enjoying his life to the fullest and loves his family a lot. I hope he is found really soon.

If anything happens to any of my family and someone is responsible, they better hope the cops find them first. You'd be reading about me in the paper.

I do hope today's search turns up something.

Outside of Duke U, Durham is the Chicago of North Carolina. Rough place. Hope he is ok, but not looking good at the moment.
