Raeford man reported missing

Raeford, N.C. — Hoke County deputies were searching Friday for a missing Raeford man who hasn't been seen since last Saturday.

Roger Jermaine "Jay" Chambers, 34, left his home on Army Road around 6:15 p.m. and spoke to his wife by phone on his way to Red Springs in Robeson County, Hoke County Sheriff Hubert A. Peterkin said. A friend said he had a brief conversation with Chambers in Red Springs, and then he headed into town.

Chambers hasn't been seen or heard from since that general time frame, Peterkin said.

Chambers is described as a black man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair and a dark complexion.

He was last seen wearing a black polo shirt with a red logo, black shorts, black and red tennis shoes and a money clip.

He was driving a green, four-door 1993 Toyota Camry, with state tag YZF-4849. The Camry has chrome rims and clear paint peeling off its hood.

Anyone with information on Chambers' whereabouts should call the Hoke County Sheriff's Office at 910-875-5111.

Details of Disappearance
Roger stated that he said had an appointment at 7pm on 09-04-2010, but didn’t say where or with who other than Roberson County. Family states that Roger has no family or friend in Roberson County.
Roger is a friendly person who often helps homeless people.
He has not been seen or heard from since.

Last seen driving a 1993 Toyota Camry dark green in color 4 dr. Vehicle has dents on the passenger side on both doors. Windows are lightly tinted. Vehicle has chrome rims. License plate YZF-4849 (North Carolina) .

On Sept. 4, 2010, Roger Jermaine Chambers left his Raeford residence on Army Road in his 1993 Toyota Camry. After visiting a friend in Red Springs, the 35-year-old Chambers allegedly continued traveling into Robeson County and has not been seen or heard from since.

Details of Disappearance​

Chambers left his home in the 3600 block of Army Road in Raeford, North Carolina at 6:15 p.m. on September 4, 2010. He said he had an appointment in the Red Springs, North Carolina area at 7:00 p.m., but didn't say exactly where or who he was going to see. It's possible he was going to see someone who owed him money.

His wife spoke to him briefly on the phone after he left home, and he also spoke to a friend he encountered at a gas station along Highway 211 outside of Red Springs. His wife tried to call him at 9:48 p.m., but the call went straight to voice mail. She eventually fell asleep and when she woke up at 2:00 a.m., he still wasn't home. Chambers has never been heard from again.

Chambers is described as a friendly individual who often helped homeless people. He may be driving a green 1993 Toyota Camry with the North Carolina license plate number YZF-4849. The vehicle has chrome rims, lightly tinted windows, paint peeling off the hood and dents on the passenger side. Photos of it are posted with this case summary.

It's uncharacteristic of Chambers to leave without warning, and there's been no activity on his bank account since his disappearance. Foul play is suspected in his case, which remains unsolved.
