Marine arrested, charged with murder of grandmother

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Marine who went AWOL has been arrested and charged in the death of his grandmother.

WTVD reports Rocky Mount Police arrested Isiah Kahleal Evans Caesar at a hotel there on Friday. He was also found with explosive materials in the room. WTVD reports Caesar was wanted for being AWOL from where he was stationed in Fort Benning, Ga.

Family members said Sallie Evans, 74, was trying to talk Caesar into returning to his post and was going to take him back to Camp Lejeune but never made the trip. Caesar was charged with murder after Evans' body was found about a mile from her home. Caesar was also charged with desertion for being absent from Fort Benning since April 2.

Caesar had Evans' car when he was arrested and it was spray painted black.
