North Carolina DSS panel to look at high-profile child death cases first

The murder of Shaniya Davis of Fayetteville is one of the cases that led the state to change how it investigates child fatalities.

Shaniya Davis, a 5-year-old Fayetteville girl who disappeared in November 2009. Mario Andrette McNeill faces charges of first-degree murder and rape. The girl's mother also faces murder charges. Shortly after the girl was found, Fayetteville police and prosecutors asked the State Bureau of Investigation to look into whether county social workers had provided police with complete records on the girl's family.

When will our sweet Shaniya get her justice? I have been looking for updates on this case every week since October and have found NOTHING.

Fly with the angels baby girl... We will never forget you.

SADLY I do not believe there will be real justice.
I believe that nobody in this country wants to admit how bad our trafficking problem is.
As a result this case especially is kept under the radar.
In that State with many highways and byways where this problem is actually huge.
IMHO – and I have said it many times Poor little angel is gone, but so is real justice.

The animals are in jail, and they are not in a great hurry to give them LWOP or the DP which IMHO they should get.
we know they did it, we know the story... the rest is BS.
Many perpe did escape...WE NEED JUSTICE NOW!!!

I just wanted to mention something while we (in)patiently await the trials.

Before Shaniya was killed, I followed the case of Somer Thompson(Florida). She was taken and killed on 10/19/2009. Not quite a month before Shaniya was.

Her accused killer has been in jail since 2010 and the trial has been pushed back and pushed back over and over again. He will go to trial for child molestation charges (not for what he did to Somer - but BEFORE) in May of 2012. His trial date for the murder has not been set yet.

This is not something that is unique in Shaniya's case. It is not because it's being swept under the rug.

It is because it takes time.

And when you compare the two threads/cases... Shaniya's case has had more news reports in the past year than Somer's.

There is simply nothing to report when cases keep getting pushed back.

This is just my opinion. I do not think this is some "cover up" nor do I think it's being swept under the rug due to the circumstances.

Praying every day for justice for Shaniya.

Thank you for being the voice of reason, justice will come in it's own time but waiting is so hard. :blowkiss:

Just thinking of the sad irony that MAM goes on trial the same day LE is set to begin searching a landfill for poor Jhessye. I hope her murderer will be on trial soon, too. And please, God, NO MORE CONTINUANCES!

Anything on local news regarding the perps hearing today? I was hoping to hear that a trial date had been set!

I got caught up reading about those poor Powell boys yesterday and I see there was no update on MAMs court appearance. I really hope that 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 wasn't granted another continuance. Enough already!

I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!! :-(

I have to say one thing...even though I am disgusted with the dragging feet in MAM's and AD's case, I have to thank God they are in jail where they cant hurt any other children. I am totally flummoxed as to why all these "parents" who are suspected of violence (either towards their mate or child) are walking free with all the rights and privileges of any citizen. I know, I know...innocent until proven guilty...but why are all these other cases the same? Kyron...Sky, Aliayah, Jhessey, Ayla...and now the tragedy of Susan and her little boys. Sorry this is so garbled but I am just so darned FRUSTRATED!!

We need some good news...one of these kids needs real justice, for God's sake!

Bumping for Shaniya, for whom justice seems to have come to a grinding halt. This is maddening, but we haven't forgotten.
