Several years ago one of my family members was missing (after a suicide). I knew they were looking for a body and there was no hope of finding them alive. That 24 hour search was the longest span of time I have ever endured. I was numb and time stood still. I cannot imagine the pain the father and aunt are in as they wait for her to be found alive or not. Knowing someone could simply tell them what happened and refuses to do so makes it so much worse. I have had nightmares about this case and I am so furious that America is such a hunting ground for children and women. It is disgusting and is only getting worse.

It's so sad to think that she had a normal childhood with her daddy and how that has been so drastically altered for her now. If the good Lord allows the world to have Shaniya and gives her back, this child will need years of counseling. How can she ever trust another human being again?

Ok y'all. I gotta go to work. Hopefully it won't be too busy and I can check in. Hoping Shaniya is found today.

Praying for Shaniya and all who love her.

I am so sickened by this latest turn of events in little Shaniya's case. The area they are searching is very swampy and thickly wooded, it is also as you can see from the pics, covered in kudzu. I pray she is not there. The thought of it makes me sick on my stomach! And not to bash or blame, but, imo, I cannot fathom sending my child to live or even an extended visit in another state with someone she doesn't know at all and I don't even know that well! Why not go with her at first, stay at a hotel and go w/ the child for supervised visits at first, until everyone feels comfortable w/ the situation. Check things out, see if it is a safe and wholesome envioment. Anyone that has been to Fayetteville much at all, much less lived there, knows that the area that the Mother lived in was crime and drug infested. And yes, good people do live in such areas, but at least spend some time there, observe comings and goings, etc. before the child is left there.

IMO, that is just standard parenting.

This is a little OT from the search for Shaniya, but I cringed when the CBS person interviewing the dad asked him what he thought when he heard that she was seen with a man at a hotel. OMG! Don't ask the poor man that question! I would've said "What the (#*@!%*&@#_ do you think I thought, lady?" Sorry but I felt like that was trying to exploit his emotions for viewers' gain. We all know what the poor man thought/felt... :(

I heard recently that sex offenders have a group or sponser and they are supposed to help and support each other in the community. Does anyone know if this is indeed fact? I think there should be a law that dictates that sex offenders have to stay away from each other if you know that person is a sex offender. Maybe that would be too difficult. I think that they could get together in privacy and plan out kidnappings, and use one person to grab a child and pass them on to another, and then another and then the final destination where they would be held and exploited. I know during the process they could be abused by each and every one of them.

Registered sex offenders in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Prayers for Shaniya that she be found today. Am still holding onto hope that she will be found alive and that she has just been stashed away with one of Mario's drug cronies who owe him big time favors.
Hoping and praying that we have a happy ending here .... or should rephrase that we have as happy an ending as possible considering the charges that are levied against the monster mom and MAM.

I HATE how insensitive the media is. I have seen it over and over again. No regard for the emotions and feelings of those they have in the hot seat. Did you notice how they panned in on his face after they asked how he felt when he heard she had been sold into prostitution? Had to make sure they got a good shot of his quivering lip. It struck me when they said that Shaniya was reserved until she got to know you. She certainly seemed reserved on that surveillance tape.

Unless I have missed something during this case, we don't know if Shaniya had a relationship with her mother. It could have very well been a situation where Shaniya did have a relationship with her by phone on a normal basis and by visitation if someone was with her. Sounds to me like the father wanted her to have a relationship with her mother so I am sure that she was not kept away from any contact the mother made effort on. I feel we will find out that although the dad has raised Shaniya, she did have some kind of relationship with her mother.
IMHO Men are not as protective as women are when it comes to checking things out. No man would want to even imagine that a child's own mother could or would do any harm to her or would put her in any kind of situation that could potentially be a problem. Mom manipulated Dad to every extent and IMHO planned everything that has happened to this child. It is hard to say but seems to me that Shaniya was nothing more than a dollar sign to her mother.
My heart goes out to him!

There is another McNeil on there - a female. I wonder if she's related to MM? Does anyone have a previous address for MM other than the one on W* Street?

The name McNeill, or McNeil, around here is about as common as Smith. Not to say they couldn't be kin, but it is a very common name. Just as an example, I work at a Community College and I have in my student system, 779Smiths and 523 McNeil/McNeills.

If she was alive, what would LE do to try to find her? what information would they release, you would think they wouldn't want to panic the abducters into killing her. What would you do if you had her and you knew the police were searching for you?

Do you think the mom and McNeil would be telling the truth if they gave information of protecting their friends?

This is just so horrible, the mom is pure evil.

According to the Early Show interview, Shaniya was in school at least when she was with her Aunt. Was she ever enrolled in school once she went to live with mom?

Actually, I believe this McNeil is a MALE. It says that on the offender page. Might be a transexual or crossdresser. One alias is Andre, so.......

Here in Baltimore City, there is a policy amongst the criminal known as "no snitching". Basically, if you call the police to report activity or admit to know something about a crime, you are dead before it goes to trial. I remember a whole family being burned to death in their home because they were going to testify against a gang member.

I'm sure that this isn't just a Baltimore thing. Those that may know something about Shaniya's disappearance may not say anything for fear for their own families.

I feel so bad for Shaniya's siblings. They have lost their mother & aunt 11 years ago, and now their baby sister is missing.

Then when crime thrives, who is to blame? The police can't be everywhere... The reason criminals flourish is because "good" people stand by and allow it. There comes a time in life where people have to take a stance...

Sitting back and saying nothing means we become prisoners, when the criminals should be the ones behind bars.
