Yeah but the hotel ( if I read correctly) is about 45-60 minutes away. I love dogs but geezzz, lol..... He's going into a hotel room, not leaving the trailer. IMO of course and you can say told ya so later. I'm just happy to see has been spotted alive.
I'd just love to know if he said anything to the motel clerk who checked him in ~ like why he was carrying her at 6:11am. Maybe something like traveling all night? And I wonder if there's any more video surveillance, like when they left or if he ever changed her clothes? MOO

Police said they want to reunite the child with her family and believe she is still alive. They also have upgraded her Amber Alert to nationwide.

in between LE's joking with reporters... was it possible for her to mention where they might be headed at all??????? or what car they might be in...... you do after all, have to write this down when checking into a hotel...

Agree---45-60 miles would take a superdog, huh?

It's only about 30-35 miles from Fayetteville to Sanford down hwy 87N. It's a 4 lane the entire way, it wouldn't have taken 45-60 mins. for him to get here.
Amazing how Google can be so off to say it would be almost an hour.

Does anyone know why a reward has not been offered for her safe return?

Ok you all I am throwing this out here. I posted this on an earlier thread. When I was out shopping yesterday (Wed) getting grocery's I saw a child in the store that looked almost identical to Shaniya. I bumped into this girl and woman at least 7 times in the store. I even told my husband about her looking just like the little girl who was missing.
I live in Colorado, NC is 1800 miles away what are the chances of her being here ?!! If they hopped a flight perhaps...Please any thoughts

As a hotel mgr. I would wonder why a man with a little undressed little girl in a blankie was checking in at 6:11 am.
Odd time, odd little girl with no shoes etc........
yes I would of called LE right away and wanted answers.
Did clerk talk to Shaniya???

I'm having a hard time buying the "save the child from the drug lord momma" issue. If they were trying to save her, why not take the boy too? I also think that Mcneill took this child to a NICE hotel for a night thinking to teach someone a lesson, or that that would be the end of his job, now he has a child and has to TAKE CARE OF HER. Where is he going to go? A cheaper place for sure. If he takes her to a family member who knows whats going on, he will be turned in. He's at a motel somewhere hiding. I'm so glad to see her alive after the fact, my head is spinning. Sorry! oh IMO

Yes, google is way off sometimes. I mean if he drove 40mph the entire way it might have taken an hr. but I doubt he did that. Or if it was rush hour at Ft. Bragg and he got caught in that traffic I could see 45mins to an hr. But at night w/ light traffic, no, 40 mins tops, and I'm giving him the benefit of 55mph.

Welcome! :) I think that question probably goes along with why hasn't Shaniya's mother made any appeal for her safe return! I would think now though that it's been announced she was alive at least 2 days ago that someone may come forward with a reward ~ but it would likely be a kind stranger or maybe the dad if he has the means. MOO

He prob. thought she was his daughter, maybe she had fallen asleep in the car, thus no shoes, IDK. People just aren't as suspicious as us WSers. And they should be when it comes to children.

She had no shoes on...so he carried her.
I don't think she is wearing the same clothes she was wearing at the time she was taken, there was an article earlier that indicated those had been found.
She has a blanket.
She is holding onto him and does not appear frightened.
She is alert, not drugged.

I called and talked to my brother. he has a criminal record as long as my leg, including assault, arson, drugs, fleeing/eluding. And his past lost him all contact with his kids. Therefore, my big gang-banging brother that would rather kick butt first becomes a different man around kids. His demeanor changes, he stops cussing, he won't even speed. If I felt I had to, I would trust him with my kids.

I think this child might actually be in no real danger. The danger will come at the time of confrontation, if it comes at all. The traffic stop, the knock on the door, the minute his adrenaline starts kicking.

I can see him taking her in the night, maybe without the mother having any say in it. Maybe he had kids of his own before the baby's momma's got fed up with him being in and out of jail. Maybe she did go outside after a potty accident, or maybe her mom even put her outside after a potty accident and he did take her to keep her safe. I see his anger, and his defiance in his mug shot...but no hatred, no turning off of humanity.

I think she'll be okay, and I think he will drop her off, if he can find a place he thinks is safer. They need to start giving visual cues on the news as to where he could drop her. The big, brightly lit hospitals, fire stations in the area, all lit up, with Shaniya fliers on the door. Make it seem like Shaniya's safe place. Don't air a plea from the mother, but get her father back on the air, as much as he can handle, which won't be much.

I don't know what to think about the mother, but if it was planned, it was planned to keep Shaniya away from her father, not from DSS, or she would have gotten rid of both of them. If she did send Shaniya outside or something of the sort, I can see her trying to make it look better. "Put her on the couch at 5:30" sounds better than "sent her outside at 3".
I can see this man thinking he is saving her if her mother told him that her father was about to get her, and that the father was abusive.

That's my take on it, as far as I have gotten so far.

Well yes at night would be one thing, but I think the question is could he have done it leaving Sleepy Hollow at 5:30am. I just don't think the mom is telling the truth. :) MOO

Thank you, last I read it was 50+ miles from where she was taken. I'm not from the area. Thank you for clearing that up.

Just a thought...if the have surveillance of him checking into the hotel they must have video of him leaving, right. I'd really like to see that video. Was Shaniya walking when they left or still being carried? Was she asleep or awake? Was she dressed and did she have on shoes. Did they have breakfast in the hotel? Are their businesses around the hotel with surveillance video that might have captured him leaving the hotel and the direction he was traveling? I'd also like a description of the car he is traveling in.

Maybe he is Shaniya's Uncle...I noticed some Davis' on the fb of Mario's relative. LE was very compassionate toward him in the presser as if to say "look we know you were trying to help...but you need to turn her over and we'll sort the rest of this mess out later." kwim

It isn't impossible! Maybe the grocery store has video surveillance and you could tell the store manager what you believe you saw?

I think these are good thoughts, where I am confused is why would BF assist in getting rid of her and why the discrepancies in mom's story?
