Yes Patty ;) we know... It goes to show you that looks can be deceiving and teaches a lesson about making any kind of judgment based solely upon appearance. However after last night's presser I couldn't understand why they had not yet released Coe. He is who I think many of us would have pegged for this, while McNeill looked to many to have less of a "thuglike" appearance... however, given their respective criminal records, and more importantly LE's treatment of these individual poi's it threw many of us off. They locked up Coe, charging him w her kidnapping... meanwhile at the presser act like McNeill was some kind of babysitter "w no reason to believe he would harm her." Very confusing to me! And while I feel relief that they have him in custody, I'm still distraught... WHERE IS THIS LITTLE ANGEL SHANIYA ???

:praying:

:parrot:

After last nights presser they were not sure if Coe and McNeil were working together.

I can understand why we did that, he does have a record of kidnapping and abuse.

So do a lot of people.
I guess with the lawsuit Coe has ample grounds for, he won't have to worry about paying for his medical treatment now.

Just listened to latest presser, and can NOT understand how they could have mistaken Coe for McNeill or the reason Coe was arrested in the first place...

:parrot:

Personally, I found it interesting that she said the charges would be dropped FOR NOW. I'm still not sure that Coe wasn't involved. I'm reserving judgement on that for more information.

I have used a debit card for a hotel many times. HOWEVER, I have been denied a room at a hotel when, as a victim of dometic abuse, I showed up in the early morning hours with cash only and no credit card. I was not able to leave with one. With two children and no place to go, I could not get a room until the light of day.

 BTDT... (((hug)))

She said "based upon new (or more recent) info..." (paraphrasing) it didn't sound to me as tho they believe any longer that Coe's connected. JMO

Coe is "allegedly" the boyfriend. Coe was "allegedly" spotted in a car with Shaniya. And then the mother, perhaps the mother told LE it was Coe since one of the charges against Coe was "terrorizing" Shaniya's mother.

I didn't mean websleuths jumped the gun on the arrest... I meant that LE jumped the gun on arresting Coe so soon on just a witness statement. sorry my post didn't make sense.

Does anyone know Mario's relation to the household/parties involved? He has a criminal background yes, but I haven't seen anything in his record indicating violence against women children specifically. But perhaps I missed it. My point is - even thugs have children, families, loved ones, etc. Even thugs can have hearts. I want so badly to believe he has some personal connection to this child and that she is safe somewhere.

Shooting into an occupied house sounds ominous to me and that is one of the charges against Mario...sounds like he really doesn't give a damm.

Thanks Patty :) I understand, but what involvement was Coe ever suspected of having? If he had handed Shaniya over, they certainly wouldn't be releasing him!

Is it possible that it was Coes car that she was seen in...car and child stolen by McNeill?

I can barely believe a witness could mistake Coe for McNeill... let alone see how "terrorizing" of Davis could've all been a "misunderstanding." LE must be eating humble pie for breakfast this am, they messed up... and still don't know where this precious baby is! :(

You might be dead on. IMO, it just sounded like they have nothing to hold Coe on any longer, but still believe he was involved and may re-arrest him later on different charges. I just think the "For Now" part was very telling. JMO, of course.

I think she was traded off at that hotel to someone else. This is just troubling...
The gal that does the speaking for LE, Chance, she does not seem to be concerned while talking...is it just me or does any one else get that immpression ?
Maybe that is why they have her she has a good poker face ....

I think someone should call.

If it's now nationwide, shouldn't everyone who gets AA alerts get it on their phone? I haven't gotten it.

ETA: has anyone gotten it?

Nope, nothing. Course, I didn't receive the Amber ALert for the little boy in my own hometown last weekend, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

(Sorry, reading backwards on the thread.)

I see what you're saying but they didn't say witness saw her "in Coe's car," they said "was seen w Coe."

It's beyond me why LE hasn't given out the car info. Without it, looking for Shaniya is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

They could have put it out on all the morning news and traffic reports, and people could have looked around on their way to work.

I don't get it.

He does have a car, doesn't he??

Probably, because if you search his name one of the first things that come up (well, before he was in every news story) is his court record from a speeding ticket in Fayetteville. I assume that the police would have recorded his vehicle description when he got the ticket. Maybe it wasn't his car, but I think it's more likely that they don't want to release the information.

I think that McNeill may not even know that the mother planned to report her kidnapped after he left with her to go wherever. Maybe he was asked to take her somewhere, or told some story about she was going to be taken away. They should have her by the end of the day if I'm right. He doesn't appear to be hiding. The only thing that troubles me is that he must have a cell phone. Wouldn't someone he knows have called him by now to say "Hey man! You're all over CNN!"

A few reasons come to mind to withhold the vehicle description: If someone phones in a tip of a sighting of the girl on the road they can use the car to confirm it. Or. they think that he is not going to harm her and don't want someone trying to be a hero and creating a dangerous situation. If he's driving a common late model car, the last thing that they want is a bunch of useless tips every time someone sees a Camry, or whatever.

I caught that too. Almost as though they DO know where Shaniya is.

As far as I understand TOS, it's ok to post MS/FB links for all parties named in the media.

Can you guys post what you're finding, so we don't all have to search for them.

Imamaze - please correct me if I'm wrong and this is a new rule on WS. I've asked about this on a few threads, as it's only come up in the last month or so, but I've never gotten an answer.

Patty - if Maze isn't on, maybe you could respond?

So those geniuses arrested Coe and he had nothing whatsoever to do with the disappearance? No wonder he didn't understand why he was in court.

Then, the pervert, who took the child directly to a hotel, was only known to the police because a hotel clerk tipped them off.

We don't know that he is a pervert, and there is nothing in his record to indicate such...JMO.
