Do they think she may be with the maternal g'ma whose 2nd name may be Rena? Or do you know?
That's what I wondered. The maternal grandmother or some other relative on that side of the family thought both the mother and father were bad parents. They did leave other children in the house though.

The FBI is working this case not the US Marshalls. It is my understanding they think the mom's family has the child and they are currently looking for them. That is why nothing more has been said. There will be a resolution here shortly from what I hear.
Sending a huge welcome to Websleuths, you appear to be in the know!Just what we have been praying for,any help you can give us is greatly appreciated.

OK, turns out there are a lot of cases where the Marshals have gotten involved in a kidnapping. Google alone gives a lot of them. But it seems they were mostly cases where the abductor was known and was a non custodial relative, or it involved adults that needed protection and a kid that needed finding.

So, it would seem that this is a custody issue, albeit a very confusing one.

Here's what I'm thinking...correct me if there's anything that just can't fit.

Her father may never have had custody, but he may have had her on a guardianship, which he willingly terminated when he sent Shaniya back to her mother.
The job for 6 months and stable home sound like a guardianship arrangement.

Why do people always assume that mother is the best choice for a kid? We really need to get rid of that somewhat arcane notion.

Are the US Marshalls involved? Was the charge the Mom brought against Coe of terrorizing her, dropped also?I don't believe it was mentioned after he was let go.Have we even seen the mother speak on camera?

Coe was released and the case has been dismissed.

I hope so. We could use some good news in the case.

It could be that custody was never legally established. When parents are married and decide to divorce, the courts force a formal custody plan for the children. These parents were never married though and may never have established a custody plan with the court at all.

They could have just been doing their own thing all this time informally.

This would actually explain alot. I am praying, I'm sure along with everybody else, that this is the case.

I, along with all of you guys are mystified by little Shanyias whereabouts, for sure,,,but since the Le is keeping everything close to the vest there is a vast area for the imagination to run wild....Sometimes I think maybe the child being a bi-racial child has something to do with this,,(I am from Virginia) and there is plenty of bigotry still in exsistance here,,south of the mason dixon line,,,but then I think,,,well,,,I always hear stories about children being stolen and taken out of the country AND sold into the sex slavery,,,but in every case I have been following for several years,,none have been found to be involved in this sick, twisted business..The poor little ones have been murdered by their parents or just not found at all,,,ie:Trenton Duckett,( WHERE IS HALEIGH????)..just had to put that in there......This is such a beautiful little girl, I guess time will tell,,,and I pray she is found safe and sound,,,,,but so many questions need to be answered.

There are a ton of offender records in NC for multiple Brenda Davis's. Ugh ..sigh.

Everything that I am bringing up is saying Marshals and FBI...if anyone here has personal knowledge to the contrary, they need to contact Tricia (site's owner) so they can have their connection verified.

If the US Marshals is involved then there must be someone involved that is on the run otherwise the FBI would be involved.

I live in NC and have been doing a little PI work myself. The father might of had custody on and off but he has not not had her the 3 years he is claiming. There was never a custody order that I could find in the court system however the mother does have a problem with getting evicted I think I counted 5 times in less than 3 years. Fayetteville is a tough area lots of Crime and lots of drug activity.

IMHO I think the grandparents have this child and they are the run. When it all comes out I am almost positive this will be be what happened.

Kindly back up this information with links please.

We are all hungry for information regarding Shaniya, but we really need to have links to back up what is being mentioned. Without links, we don't know what is FACT and what is not.
