Stephen Dewayne Sidberry, 30, of 201 N. 31st St. was sitting on his front porch with his wife, Vicci, around 8:20 p.m. Monday when a gunman walked up to him, Mrs. Sidberry said.

"He just ran up and shot him twice," she said. "A bunch of kids were out there."

Mrs. Sidberry said her husband was a loving man who was "real good with kids."

"He was a good father," she said. The couple have 13 children.

She said she does not know who would want to kill her husband.

It wasn't the first time he'd been shot. In January, he was shot in the back after a fight broke out while he was standing at the bar at a night club on Castle Street.

Mr. Sidberry had a criminal record dating back a little more than a decade.

The man who shot him Monday was wearing what Mrs. Sidberry described as a Ninja suit.

The suspect walked between houses neighboring the Sidberrys' home, rounded the corner and walked up to Mr. Sidberry and shot him, according to a Wilmington Police report.

Mr. Sidberry was shot in his forehead and fell on the ground.

The suspect pointed the gun at him and pulled the trigger again, shooting Mr. Sidberry in the neck, the report said.
