Identified! NC - Surry Co., Partial skull in woods, Apr'13 - Joseph Carl Pike

A portion of a skull was found this week in NC; no other remains found in the vicinity. No gender or age released yet. The skull had been there for "some time".

SURRY COUNTY, N.C. —Partial human remains found in Surry County back in April belong to a Mount Airy man missing since 2009, deputies said Thursday.

A hunter found Joseph Carl Pike's remains April 12 in a wooded area of South Parkview Trail in Flat Rock. Pike was 35 when he was last seen by his brother in June 2009.

I wonder if the acquaintance seen with him last is responsible. If they know who this man is! Why he would burn a tent in the woods? Were the remains found in the same general location? Motive?
