Tiffany Wright was a fifteen year old student that was waiting at her bus stop at 6700 Mallard Creek Road. She was 9 months pregnant and her foster mother had walked down to the bus stop with her. Her mother realized that she had forgotten her water and walked back to their residence to retrieve it. Minutes later, when her mother returned, she found Tiffany lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to the hospital where the baby was delivered by cesarean section before the victim was pronounced deceased. The baby survived in the hospital for a short time before also dying.

Last I read, the brother, who had impregnated her, was charged and then his charges were dropped. This is right down the road from me.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The charges against a man accused of raping his adopted teenage sister, who was gunned down in north Charlotte last month, were dropped Thursday. Mecklenburg County District Attorney Peter Gilchrist said there wasn't enough evidence to keep Royce Mitchell, 36, jailed on the rape charges.

"We had a man that we had no evidence against and we responded appropriately,” Gilchrist said Thursday.

He said DNA evidence showed he was not the father of 15-year-old Tiffany Wright’s baby. Wright was eight months pregnant when she was shot to death while waiting for her school bus on Mallard Creek Road on Sept. 14. Her baby girl was delivered but died a week later. But Charlotte-Mecklenburg police issued a competing statement saying, "Our detectives continue to believe they have probable cause in this case based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.

Not sure what will happen with the murder investigation. This beautiful girl....

I'm not saying that he didn't rape her or even kill her, but I think DNA showed that he was not the father of the baby.

Pregnant Charlotte teen was fatally shot at bus stop. Cops arrest man – 9 years later

Police on Friday announced an arrest in the 2009 fatal shootings of a 15-year-old and her baby who was delivered at the scene.

Royce Anthony Mitchell, the 45-year-old suspect, “had been on our radar since 2009,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Lt. Susan Manassah said at a news conference at police headquarters on Friday afternoon.
