SHERIFF: Cache of weapons found in triple murder suspect’s home & van

David Lever was arrested Friday for the murders of an elderly couple and a retired ECU professor at their homes. All three had been shot.

A man charged with killing three people on Friday had dozens of weapons in his home and van, according to Sheriff Paula Dance.

At a news conference Monday morning, Dance said there would have been additional victims had the son of the elderly couple not held Lever at gunpoint.

North Carolina authorities have arrested a Greenville-based real estate agent while investigating a triple homicide and four different crime scenes.

David Hansen Lever, 55, is charged with three counts of murder in connection to the homicides, according to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. Police arrested Lever after the son of two of the victims held him at gunpoint.

“He shot my parents because he is f****** insane. They’re dead. My parents are dead. He shot my mom in her f***** dining room and he shot my dad in his damn recliner,” a caller told a 911 dispatcher.

He also revealed that Lever struggled with substance abuse issues, something brought to the forefront in the 911 call.

“I was the only one who was there for you you drugged-out piece of s***. I cannot f***** believe you did this to my family,” Gribble said.

A search warrant for Lever’s home uncovered over 50 firearms and more in his van. Warrants also show multiple interactions between Lever and deputies over the years.
