Found Deceased NC - Tristan Blue, 2, Raleigh, 22 Dec 2014 *Arrests*

  • #21
Hmmm...I'm in the same state, but I never received an amber alert on my phone. Speaking of amber alerts, while I'm glad that it was issued in this case, I was reading the amber alert criteria it makes me wonder if there's something that LE knows that we don't. Here's the criteria that I looked up -

•There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred.

•The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.

•There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.

•The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.

•The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.

So I wonder what made them issue the amber alert. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Parents? Siblings? Who was watching him? Dad last saw him in the morning......did dad then go to work? Tendency to wander? Neighbors? RSOs in area? We sure have an information vacuum.

Hoping and praying for precious little Tristan. Anytime one this young wanders off my hinky meter starts twitching. I soo hope he is sleeping in a neighbor yard and will soon be found.

BBM

2 years old... not seen since 8am and not reported missing until 1pm?!!!!

I can't find a solid time when he was last seen and when he was reported. Some stories say 7:45, 8, and 1 as last seen.

Has anyone seen anything on volunteers needed? I'm semi-local (within 2 hours) and am happy to help however I can.

Oh Tristan! You need to be in a warm bed dreaming of sugar plums and Santa right now. Please be okay and please be found soon!

Oh my goodness he's SOOOOO CUTE! Please let this little guy be found safe & soon! He needs to be home to enjoy Christmas like all little ones!

I do find it odd that MSM is stating that it's believed he may have wandered off...? I have 2 kiddos (ages 5 & 7), & I can honestly say that there has never been a time in which they've just "wandered off" & myself, nor my husband know their whereabouts. I find this so frustrating in many of these cases with missing children- it just seems so very preventable. In no way am I saying I'm #1 mom - but again, keeping track of your kiddos SHOULD be a priority. Especially a 2 year old. But... With that said - this little boy has indeed wandered off & desperately needs to be found.
I wish I was closer (I'm west coast) to help in some way.
I'm fairly new to WS- can someone enlighten me... When do parents usually go to the media? Only if they believe their child was abducted?
It seems that so many times we just don't see the family out searching or going to the media for help - like we do with some very high profile cases... Again, I don't know the reasoning behind this.

Kids do wander off. Tristan is a bit young to be an "escape artist," but by the time my middle son was 3, he knew how to find something to stand on to reach the deadbolt, turn it, and get out the door in the length of time it took me to run upstairs with his diaper bag and get back downstairs. He only got away with it once, but there was that first time...so while I agree it's a warning sign, I'm willing to cut them some slack until I know more about what happened.

I do understand that kids are sneaky in that if there's a will there's a way... I guess I'm just frustrated by the fact that it seems so many little ones seem to be just "disappearing" as of late & to me, it does seem (for the most part- as yes there are those little ones that will get away from us NO MATTER WHAT!) that these situations are preventable - again in most circumstances. This is all 100% my opinion. And I don't know this family's situation - I wish we had more information.

And to stop searching until sunrise? I pray his loved ones aren't stopping until he is found.

It makes no sense to stop searching for a 2 year old until the morning. If they have stopped searching it can only mean they have suspicion he didn't wander off. (Or the dept. is completely inept...which I doubt.)

IMO.

Unless there's something about the search that was putting other people in danger? I don't know. When my neighbor's autistic son got lost, they had helicopters with searchlights circling the woods so they could keep searching. (Which turned out to be a mistake because the lights frightened him...but that's another subject).

Weeksauce, yes, there are far too many disappearances and far too many times "wandered off" is an attempt to disguise what really happened. There's another little boy missing in SC, too. Praying they're both found soon.

I live in NC...never got an Amber Alert on my phone. The weather has been horrible all over the state. One thing I did receive on my phone today was a weather warning about dense fog.

The way I understand it is that police are searching overnight, but were suggesting that residents/neighbors (who were searching earlier) wait until morning/daylight (probably due to weather).

ETA: I have a friend who lives just miles from this who said she drove by tonight on her way out of town and the police presence is pretty heavy, and access to the apartment complex is completely blocked off.

I'm really glad to hear that the search is continuing throughout the night & hopefully LE just didn't want volunteers to search through the night b/c it can be dangerous ??? This little guy needs to be found. He's got to be terrified - in the dark & cold.
It did state they believe he's wearing shoes- which is a plus. Just praying that he is found before Christmas morning.
