Raleigh Police requested a new search warrant in April to reexamine a Raleigh mother’s cellphone after her 2-year-old son’s remains were found in a Wake County lake in December 2014.
...
Police executed a search warrant for Dangerfield’s cellphone on Jan. 16, 2015. Due to a lack of available technology at the time, limited information was provided.

Due to newer technology, police have requested a new search of Dangerfield’s cellphone in order to reexamine the item and recover data from it. Police are looking for phone communications between Steven Blue and Briana Dangerfield and other information relating to this case.

A Trial date is set for September, but the case will be reviewed in August.

"There was evidence of fragmentation with blunt and sharp force trauma and thermal burns," the medical examiner wrote in the autopsy report.

The boy's skull was fractured, the skin on his left arm had been cut through and his feet showed "extensive fragmentation with exposed tendons, fractured bones and irregular defects," according to the autopsy. Burns were noted on his skull, feet and fingers of his right hand.

:notgood: Broken bones - that sounds like little Tristan was smothered alright - IMO after suffering some helluva beating. This reminds me of Lonzie Barton's case - he also had broken ribs and a fractured skull but the ME couldn't pinpoint a COD due to decomposition. So boyfriend Ruben Ebron got a plea deal after "confessing" that Lonzie drowned in the tub while he and Lonzie's mother were having sex.

I guess we should be grateful that cases like this even end with prison time but it still ticks me off. I'll be watching to see what happens with Dangerfield's charges...

It ain't over yet -- the man who just pleaded guilt is gonna testify against Tristan's mom -- she says she knew nothing about it. He says she was in on at least part of it.

Two sorry excuses for human beings, IMO.

Thanks for the link, Jewels -- I also looked at the accompanying news article, and found I still can hardly bear to look at little Tristan's picture. It makes me sad and angry at the same time. What a little early (then) angel. One of the prettiest (yes, pretty) little boys I have ever seen. Now he is away from all that horror and is surrounded by all types of love -- much of it coming from those like us who never even knew him. He was a great gift...and that's all I can put into words right now.

Yes another beautiful child taken too soon by evil parents. If you can't handle your child then give them to someone who can. Please don't murder you child they are our future and they deserve to have that chance.

Raleigh mother pleads guilty to being accessory after the fact in death of son

Briana Dangerfield, 27, was charged with attempting to conceal the murder, child abuse, destroying evidence, and accessory after the fact of murder.

In an agreement with prosecutors, she pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. She was sentenced to prison for 6 years to 8 years, 4 months with credit for 2 years, 8 months served.
